    Really? Maybe give us a bit more cash for the crucial Jan window. It's in that window we should readying ourselves for CL qualification in the coming season, although good business can be tough at that time of the season.

    Sky sources understand Southampton are unlikely to change their stance, despite Virgil van Dijk handing in a transfer request.

    The defender is not for sale.

    In other words Southampton are waiting for a bidding war and so is big Pete....

    Apparently Southampton are confident of keeping him, they know he wants to play in the World Cup and know he needs to play..So he won't go on strike or anything..

    Got a few Southampton mates who are adamant they won't sell out of principle as he signed a 6yr deal last season. They don't need the cash either..

    We may need to wait another year, tbf it's like money in the bank as he's only going to get better.

    There is absolutely no chance he stays and plays at Southampton. He doesn't want to be there, the player has all the power in modern football.

    Either they sell him or have him train with the unders, there's no other option.

    Personally don't think the 6 year deal means anything. Not in modern football.

    Just guarantees them more money...surely only a matter of time before he moves on.

    Southampton can keep him and they know VVD wants to play for Holland in the World Cup, he's signed a 6yr deal.. I'd say the club has a few cards too, they can say no to his transfer request.

    If he stays he will play, neither party has anything to gain by him not playing.

    It's mental a club like Southampton can knock back that kind of cash but they can. Will be interesting to see how it pans out..

    It's just a matter of time for us, money in the bank.
