I mean the life they're going to lead afterwards. Are they going to suffer neglect, poverty, a childhood in care...It's not very fair on a kid to have that if the mother never planned on having a child in the first place.

Excellent point. Although when it comes down to it, the father has NO say in it, which I am absolutely against 100%.

If my partner or whatever ended up pregnant and she had my wean aborted either without consulting me or after me begging and pleading not to have my child terminated, I'd want to terminate her.

Not all weans that go in to the care system experience scenarios like this.

I've got split feelings on it tbh. My natural instinct is to be against abortion but in the modern day when fewer children are brought up in stable, loving households I can see the arguments for it.

Women who have children without the stability, finances or the will to support it properly is detrimental to the mother, child and society as a whole.

    Well, that's entirely subjective.

Some of the happiest families out there I know of are the ones who have very little except each other.

I agree with what you are saying in this post but i believe that it's nowhere near good enough an excuse for having an abortion.

Aye, my point is more on the mother actually wanting to look after the child and raise it properly, having money helps but it isn't the main thing. Too many kids are brought into the world and neglected.

    True.
But what about poverty and neglect?
Is the mother/fathers well being taken into consideration too?

For those who are saying "pro-choice", what about the choice of the aborted child?

It's a difficult one, but I feel that we have every opportunity in this day and age to not get pregnant in the first place (ie it's a choice whether or not to use contraception). Therefore I believe it should only be allowed in extreme situations.

What about poverty and neglect? What do you mean?

The mothers and fathers have no consideration in it. When you have a wean, you become secondary in terms of focus - and that's the way it SHOULD be.

I absolutely agree with that. Which goes along with my view of if you aren't willing to look after a child, then let someone else who WANTS to raise a child and give it a good life.

Without being flippant, there are plenty more of these gay folk out there getting married and wanting to raise weans in a loving home......let them do it.

Yeah that's a fair point. There's a lot of kids I coach who get picked up by their mum or dad at the end of the session/day and you just feel sorry for the wean. The other week one of the kids' mum was high as a kite when she came to collect him. That was at 1 in the afternoon. * ridiculous.

I mean if they're not capable, financialy, to care for a child. Or if they just don't give a * and the child suffers abuse.

Are you against abortion if a woman is raped or it's incestuous? Surely the concideration lays on the mother there?
