More than a few times now I've driven by the Royal hospital in Glasgow, and seen a wee crowd of old folk out with placards with pictures of Jesus on it, "pro-life" all this kind of stuff. Also heard of a story the other night of some daft young lassie (23), who's just had her 3rd abortion.

Got me thinking, do you agree with it, you don't, or you're not quite sure?

Me? Still undecided, but I'd lean more towards the pro-life option. If you don't want the wean, give it to some other poor * that doesn't have the blessing of being able to create/carry a child.

Personally I think unless there's a significant threat to the mother or child's well being then terminations are wrong. Bit of a cop out in my opinion.

Only in extreme circumstances should it be acceptable.

As someone who is going through PGD (form of ivf) in the next couple of months with my partner I am highly against it.

We have Had 5 mis carriages in the last 2 years and would give up all the meterialistic things in life to have a child.

    Against abortion, personally.
I would love my wife to have had kids with me but both too old.
Have to settle for step daughter although she, thanks to me, is a Celtic supporter.:84:

Read an article recently that the UK government are thinking about allowing genetic abortions. (Not sure where)
What i mean is that if the child is going to be the wrong gender for what the parents want they will be allowed to abort it without consequence even after legal timescale and even if there is nothing physically wrong with the child.

I'm against it but I understand why some people do it.

I just wish there was more debate especially with the new technology they have in Iceland where they can tell instantly if a baby is Down Syndrome and since this has happened they have a 100% abortion rate for Down Syndrome babies which is basically a genocide of a people so they view them as getting rid of a virus.

    I'm pro choice.
Plus forcing a girl to carry a kid for 9months then give it up for adoption must be horrific. She'll go through huge changes.
I think a lot of "pro-lifers" are really just pro birthers. If you don't want a kid chances are it's not going to have a great life.

Let's be honest, no * ever WANTS to have a baby with Down's.

But I've never met anyone with Down's who wasn't as happy as a pig in * loveable little character (obviously not all like that, i know).

What exactly does that mean? :43:

Considering babies are alive before they are born...

I tend to believe in freedom of choice however I just don't like the way that it's being used almost as a form of contraception among some girls. Also don't like how the fathers seem to get very little say in it, so in that regard I'd prefer if it was limited to if it was life threatening to the mother or as a result of rape.

I'm pro-life only exceptions for me are if it's rape, incest or a danger to the mothers life.

I have already posted about Downs Syndrome on another thread and find it disgusting that a child that can grow up to give as much love as non Downs Syndrome child is, in my opinion, murdered.
If their parents had thought that way NONE of these kids would be alive

You got a link to this as I find it highly unlikely.

Regarding abortions, if a lassie is raped of course she should have the right to decide what to do and for medical reasons as well. Although abortion should not be seen as a form of contraceptive.

Agree with you but it worries me that we as a society are starting to view down syndrome people as "a life not worth living" even though down syndrome people tell us they are happy and some do great things. I think it's a dark path we are going down when we view humans as a virus to finally get rid of.
