Going to be hard to get a better character than Rust.

Yeah, the premise is a new case, in a new city, new detectives every season. Saw the Bad Pitt thing a while ago, it would be like an episode of Se7en.

Rust is going to be hard to replace.

I really enjoy the music in the titles and that burd in the USA flag outfit :D

Great show, Matthew McConaughey is quite rightly getting a lot of the plaudits but I think Woody Harrelson stole it for me. Not as great a charector as Rust but I felt he did an excellent job.

One of the few shows that live up the the hype :50:

Everyone goes on about McConaughey's portrayal of Rust, but Woody Harrelson was excellent. It was a stand-out role.

Ok finally finished it after months of starting this thread LOL

    I wanted to like it....but didn't..

The acting was outstanding, both of them outdid each other...Doubt you will see anything acted better in a TV drama/thriller tbh.....after seeing matt in Dallas buyers club and his achievement ,this was on that calibre.......brilliant from both actors....

But.....the story was weak....first 3 hours were very long and last 5 were far better in terms of thriller/action......but the plot tbh kinda sucked.....was very weak imo.

    SPOLIERS:

The last episode was very weak...chasing a killer through his den and then for him to jump out and knife him like Michael myers and then get killed in the cliché shot to the head by the other injured party....seen it too many times before...
The story kinda ran outta gas and was just plodding along..there was no tension and no answers whatsoever to who else was the killers/rapists....it actually ended pretty fast considering.....they coulda made another 5 episodes and had better story/ending.

As stated the acting was superb but the story very weak....such a shame..just my opinion

I heard that Brad pitt and Al pacino are getting lined up for season 2..

Watched all of it in two days.

Took a while to get going but from the 4th episode onwards I couldn't get enough of it. Creepy as * as well. I didn't like the ending all that much, as mentioned above, but it was way better than most stuff on TV.

So is that Southern setting. You can't really get creepier / weirder than that.

I've yet to watch this but looking forward to it.

People describing it as "creepy" what is creepy about it?

Probably the idea that there are actually people out there demented enough to do these sort of things, more than anything else.

    Exactly.

Plus just the general dark, drab vibe that came with the setting.

I've seen some quotes from the series- stuff about how human consciousness was a mistake and so on- I like that kinda nihilistic stuff, need to get it watched :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah, it gave it an insular community, rural backwater vibe - definitely added to the show.

from the clips I've saw it seems to have a kind of "no country for old men" sort of vibe to it.

    Gonna start it tonight.

Not seen it, so can't comment. It's like 'we do things our way'. Still wouldn't say it's creepy - certainly dark.

The one thing I would complain about is the mumbling. Get the volume turned up, it can be hard to understand - especially Matthew McConaughey
