What strikers are out there... who we can realistically get.

See that Ricky Van Wolfswinkel has returned to Norwich after a season's loan at St-Etienne. Originally they bought him for about 6mil but I think we could get him for maybe about 4! Would surely score a bucket load in Scotland and still only 26.

Given the fact that he left Sporting Clube de Portugal for Norwich City, he's probably not the kind of player who is going to appreciate how big a club Celtic is and he would probably have to take a pay cut (I'm guessing).

I'd take him but he'll probably end up at an another English side.

Hes pish, I mind saying on here when he signed for Norwich he would fail. He's an ok box player and goalscorer but not a very good player, hints of Kris Boyd although not a fat * and more talented but still lacks the allround game, he will go back to the Netherlands and probably score for fun for an Ajax, Feyenoord, Twente or the likes if not this year the next or the year after.

If we are going to spend the likes of £4million we need a guy who can lead the line in Europe, with a bit of power and pace or skill and quality none of which youd associate with him.

That said, his experience of English football might have put him off chasing paper.

I'll happily bow to your superior knowledge of him. I've only ever seen him in bits and pieces but always thought he looked like a goal scorer. Would he be better than Hooper? Did RVW ever play against us? Seem to remember him being a danger for utrecht against us?

Aye he scored a hat-trick against us :56: but he's just not that good.

Luuk de Jong who PSV signed last season is quite similar to him but a superior footballer and just really better at everything and better a goalscorer as well, I think he only cost £4million last year, we could have went for him.

Van Wolfswinkel is a decent player but id say he's probably no better than Scepovic, Scepovic would probably score 20-25 goals a season if we played him, both maybe lacking the pace, power, skill or hold up play to make the differance in Europe.

:56: To be fair scoring goals against Celtic in recent years in Europe didn't take much! Yeah De Jong is a very decent big player out of our grasp now though! Haha can't say I rate big Scepovic at all so would certainly take Wolfswinkel ahead of him. Just checked his Eredivise goal scoring record and its * hot! Although so was John Guidetti's! :86:

Scepovic would probably get 20-25 a season in the Eredivisie as well though. I would actually say him and Van Wolfswinkel are really similar players. Both fairly tall but weak and only average in the air, both ok on the ball but nothing great, mobile but not fast and decent goalscorers but nothing special at holding it up, linking play and don't really have the movement/positioning/style to drop deeper or roam onto the wings to play up front alone.

£2million, £15k, a week players who for Celtic could be good 2nd choice strikers.

But since Norwich made a * of themselves and paid about £8million and are probably paying him about £35k a week then he's way overvalued now as they'll want about £4million and he would want about £25k a week, meaning he probably won't leave them until he gets most of that money or if someone is daft enough to buy him and pay him similar like a Turkish or Russian team, I imagine he will go out on loans and then return to the Netherlands when he's no longer getting big money.
