“In the past we’ve had guys who were similar to a 10, but never that Italian or South American-style playmaker.

“I can’t think of many current players in world football who perform that role in the same way. You have to go back to someone like [Juan Roman] Riquelme for Argentina. These guys seem to have more time than anyone else.”

Interesting - a lot of people on here have compared him to Riquelme too.

Australia coming into the game more. He had one nice run but got stopped edge of the box. Playing more of a patient counter so not too heavily involved so far.

Had one good run that should’ve been a free kick, but the Aussies are getting more comfortable and getting into the game. France have been honking that said.

I dont rate deschamps as manager ..France clearly have the players..they may take a while to grow into the tournament though not winners on this evidence so far.

Every time there’s anything positive for Australia it’s from tams left foot

Came into the game more later on when Australia started playing through the middle. Few nice passes and bossed that Kante for strength a couple times.

Their struggling to get him on the ball so far ,he is finding good spaces between lines but australia don have the technical ability to play passes and draw opponents in ,but atm the tactics are working tbh ,a bit like a strachin team ,and similar to wot wee should be doing away days in europe .

They're too direct and bypassing or going wide. Retaining possession and happy to play it across the back with keeper involved but when they get in the French half they need to be braver and more composed countering..

He's drifting left and right in to pockets and the few time's he has been picked out....he's used it well and should've had a foul just outside the box..

Tam had an average game and seemed to run out of gas and was taken off just after the 70 minute .

Don't think anyone would disagree. If Australia had players more capable of finding him in space, it would have been a different game. Plus France playing so deep, which was strange.

They should have started with someone harder working and put him on when there was more space between the French midfield and defence.

Big man done as well as can be expected. Worked hard, showed some strength and nice touches. Probably not the kind of game for him to shine, hopefully gets a chance to impress if they have a more open game against one of the other teams.

What's the point of having a player like Rogic in your team - a player with drove, guile and creativity - and not try to play through him? That was frustrating to watch.

He’s number 18 for the Celtic
    Scores goals I’ve never expected
    And he’s Tom Rogic

How did the big guy play? I only caught about 5 minutes of him being on the pitch then he got subbed, I was like ffs.

Australia were very unlucky. I always enjoy watching them, they never go down without a fight.
