Celtic are locked in a battle with Nice to sign Manchester City starlet Thierry Ambrose this summer, according to reports in the player’s native France.
The 21-year-old striker spent last season playing in the Eredivise on-loan at NAC Breda, where managed to bag an impressive 10 goals in 30 appearances in the Dutch top-flight.

But, with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus leading the line at his parent club City, it now seems likely that Ambrose will spend at least one more season out on-loan trying to get more first-team experience, whilst leaving the Etihad permanently might be another option too.






And, according to French publication Onze Mondial, Ambrose has been targeted by Brendan Rodgers’ side – as well as new Nice boss Patrick Vieira.

The former France and Arsenal skipper took charge at Nice last week, and knows Ambrose well from his time as a coach with City’s youth teams, which might suggest he has the upper-hand in negotiations.

But Celtic can always point to the lure of potential Champions League football, and the various young players they’ve helped develop under Rodgers over the last two seasons or so.

 

If he's as good as his namesake then we'll have another Van Dijk on our hands.

Was looking at his stats, scored against PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord last season, with his record being 3 goals and an assist in 6 games against them, good record considering his team were pish and once lost 8-0 to Ajax and 4-1 and 5-1 to PSV.

Both, seems he mostly played as a striker 20 times in the middle but he played 8 times on the right as well.

CELTIC have been credited with an interest in Manchester City striker Thierry Ambrose – but SunSport Online understands those reports are wide of the mark.

The French forward hit ten goals and picked up five assists while on loan at NAC Breda in the Netherlands last term.

L’Equipe claim the Hoops are one of a number of clubs tracking the 21-year-old.

But it is believed there is no concrete interest from Celts in taking him to Parkhead.

New Nice boss Patrick Viera is keen on the youngster, who he worked with at the Etihad, with Onze Mondial reporting that their interest is at an advanced stage.

Bordeaux and Anderlecht are also reportedly keeping tabs on the Frenchman.

The Scottish champions have history of dealing with City following the loan signings of Jason Denayer, John Guidetti and Patrick Roberts over the years and the permanent transfer of Olivier Ntcham last term.

But it appears Ambrose will not be following their path.

 

With a name like that I’m not sure what to expect.
