I got to see him play, but I wish I was the age I am now when Larsson was with us.

Think I would’ve appreciated him so much more than I did at a young age.

He was, still say to this day in my all time world XI he is the only Celt I coukd have there.

Whilst it looks like I just miss the cut off for a young un, I didn't really watch properly until the 80s.

Jimmy would obviously be the one. I remember going to the Ian Rush testimonial were we absolutely owned the joint and wee Jinky was unbelievable and scored a better when we won 1-0, mind you the big boys got beat 6-1 or something like that.

Of the modern generation from 1980 onwards we have had some good footballers in their own unique way, but the only one, singularly, that would get near the lions team is Henrik Larsson.

That does not belittle some fabulous players we have had and there are some crackers to have turned out for us.

The current crop of youngsters like Tierney & McGregor can write themselves into history and become the subject of tales of yore for future generations.

Good times to be a fan.

Missed Larsson by a year to appreciate him in anyway. Doubt theres many fans that only saw Henrik competitively against us.:54:

I'll never forget the day we played Hearts at Tynie,George litteraly took them apart from start to finish,it was pure exhibition that afternoon,I think it finished 3-0 or 3-1.
I've never seen it happen before or after up there but even a good few Hearts fans clapped him off the park.

1 Lion. Bobby Lennox. Remember McStay and McGrain very well. Remember Nicholas debut season. Very lucky to see some great men in hoops. Oh and Gary Gillespie.:fear:

I have been told by a couple of older Tim's that Murdoch was the complete midfielder and the most important player in the Lions.

McStay was fantastic and was undoubtedly the best in his position and carried our midfield. Bit harsh on Grant to be honest. Peter was a decent player although of limited ability when viewed alongside McStay. A shitebag he certainly wasn't though and I can't recall any time when he what it from Hurlock.

Hurlock only played a few games against us and got sent off in one. We beat them twice in a week at that time if memory serves.
