Gym... different muscle groups alternate days. Some cardio thrown in and a 50/60 length swim once a week.

Fair play to all in here and shedding it. Good effort Zander and good to hear you're back on the mend Minty..

Gym earlier myself and doing alright just now. Bang out the sit ups and press ups or wee runs even when I'm not gym-ing it..

Usually try and batter it on a Friday when I know I'm gonna be having a heavy weekend as well. Standard..

Getting to the stage now where I feel like absolute * if I don't exercise on any given day, been doing 4/5 days a week now since beginning of May but starting to feel like I should step it up to every day, even if it's only a 20 minute workout or run on a few of the days.

First summer where I've kept training the whole way through though so I'm happy, dying for Pre Season to start which Id usually be dreading.

1000 a day is way too much, your metabolism will slow down halting the progress.

Personally I eat my BMR per day which is 1700-1800 calories and then anything I burn via exercise is my deficit.

Been going to the gym fairly steadily since February got a pretty decent routine but still feel like a complete beginner when it comes to diet ect. Never been one to count my calories and just kind of assumed I would lose weight and gain muscle but because I haven't been counting calories I have been really lazy with my diet up untill a few days ago. It wasnt terrible before but just snacked too much and ate too much bread and carbs.

Im in ok shape and put a bit of muscle on but haven't been shifting my beer gut which should come as no shock given how lax iv been with my diet.

Just wondering how many calories and what kind of diet I should be consuming per day if im working out 5x a week and jogging like 3 x a week. And if I should just concentrate on either a cut or a bulk as im kind of combining them both atm and from what iv been reading last few days is pretty much impossible to do both.

This is all very vague I know but even little bit of advice would be appreciated.

There's some really basic things you can do to improve your diet without feeling like you're doing much at all.

Cutting out sugary drinks is great (that includes fruit juice). Have water instead or switch to a zero calorie version.

Set certain hours in the day where you don't eat. For example, don't eat between lunch and dinner.

One of the things I try to do is have a smaller portion of something than what I actually want. Gradually you become used to slightly smaller portions without even noticing it.

Sometimes when you're dehydrated, you feel hungry. So staying hydrated helps keep those cravings away.

Also, the best piece of advice would be to do your own research. There's loads of youtube videos and online guides for free.

Stuff like that can help. ^

Cheers man thats a good start sugar is definitely my weakness, was looking at the calories of some of the * I was eating at the weekend. 500 calories in a dominoes cookie FFS.

If I can keep away form the booze next couple of weeks should be a lot easier to cut the sugar out.

I was the same. A few years ago I used to tan a big bottle of the orange lucozade for fun. I think it has almost double the daily recommended intake of sugar ffs. :56:

Have noticed as I've cut down on the alcohol that I've had a real craving for sweet stuff, which is unusual for me as I don't have the sweetest tooth and much prefer savoury food.

Maybe the body asking for sugar that would normally be found in beer?
