Seen that Glasgow has been named one of the safest City's in the UK.

Some achievement that considering 10/15 years ago we were the murder capital of Europe.

    OUTSIDE London.
    Not IN London.
Can get into London if i want fairly easily but don't have to pay their ridiculously high cost of living.
Stayed there for a while which is why io know it's a shithole.

I'd have to seriously question that, there's too many dodgy as * characters in Glasgow to be considered one of the safest. Way more junkies & neds compared to Edinburgh. There's still the same amount of murders each year as a decade ago.

I'm not so sure Glasgow is super "safe". Some parts are alright, some are dodgy as * and have been for some time. It's not a murder capital by any means anymore I'd think, but still, one of the safest I don't know.

The report gauges how safe people feel, not the actual variables of safety in terms of crimerate, it's misleading. As I said, there are too many neanderthals here for it to be considered anywhere near one of the safest in the UK, it's comfortably the least safe city in Scotland.

Glasgow's crime rate has got a helluva lot better in recent years but I'm pretty sure we still have the highest rates of murder and violent crime in the UK.

I think with Glasgow it's more that some parts of the city are pretty safe now whereas others are still not. There are plenty of pretty nice areas in the town, West End, and quite a few in the North and South sides aswell. The East End will probably get quite a bit better over the next few years with the investment they put in for the Commonwealth Games.

I think it's just a case of knowing which areas are a bit dodgy and generally keeping your distance from them. Do that and Glasgow probably isn't going to be that much more dangerous than a lot of other cities.

You sound bitter. The place being full of snobby * is immaterial to the fact it certainly is not a shithole.

Glasgow ain't a shithole. In fact when you consider average property prices in comparison to some other UK cities it is a very attractive place to live. The major downside is the * weather of course.

When I think of shitholes in the UK I think of grey urban area with no character and very few prospects. There's plenty of them tbh. Grimsby is one that springs to mind.

I love Glasgow, always have. It's getting better as well.

The myth that it's a dump full of junkies and you can't walk through it without watching your back is just that. A myth.

Lived in and around Glasgow for 31 years, never once felt in proper danger.

Agreed. I'm assuming it's a reputation that it picked up years ago that is difficult to shake. I stayed there for 6-7 years and never felt in danger at all, and even spent a bit of time in Possil :smiley-laughing002:

It's a cool city too. Moreso than Edinburgh anyway which lacks much swagger.
