    My personal opinion, is that quite a few of the teams in this draft ended up being far too unbalanced, with very few having a proper ball winning midfielder/holding midfielder. I love attack minded teams but in reality an overly attacking team would suffer without adequate protection for the defence. Keano got that balance spot on and his team was a clear cut winner for me. Although, I think Pennywise (who finished 6th in the best teams category, should have placed as he also had that balance and quality.

    Agreed would go with that on my side as well lacked a real good CDM however my plan included Veira. Good draft either way, think Keano and Fawlty and Minty had best 3 teams and that came though with results. Cheers Minty!

    I loved my team this time round, the defence and midfield were very strong.

    The only player I missed out on really was Arjen for Ribery.(* you Mark)

    Third, I'll * take that.

    Always tough when going Dutch to get solid centre halves, indeed the three-in-a-row Ajax defence was built on he very much not Dutch Vasovic (Yugoslav) and Blankenburg (German). Rinus Israel was the only real standout CB from Feyenoord's 70' side but I didn't think he'd have the necessary name recognition.

    I could have simply gone with the Ajax pair but as I was aiming for a national theme I thought it best to link up with the next era to cherry pick a back three, with Van Breukelen easily outshining Jongbloed and Schrivers as the only starting Dutch keeper with international honours. Koeman was an automatic choice, as was Rijkaard who was very adept in central defence despite being better-known as a DM. The strength of my back four is undoubtedly the dynamism and positional play of Krol and Suurbier, who were much more than mere fullbacks (particularly Krol).

    The rest of the side picked itself really, would've been easy to choose a big-name second striker like Bergkamp but as Minty said team balance is an important factor, so I erred on the side of having a proper midfield trio with no major deficiencies. Almost went with Wim Jansen as the holder but couldn't have lived with omitting Haan, who would thrive in that role with proper protection behind him (rather than being thrown in central defence as he was by Michels at the World Cup irl). Could also have gone with a more obvious 9 such as Kieft but with such prolific wide forwards I didn't see the need.

    Only * up on my part was probably letting Gullit slip away.
