Telegraph have already called it a ‘history making mob masterpiece’. High praise indeed.

Heard really good things about it from a few folk that went to the limited screenings, can't wait for it.

    Really looking forward to this.

Just watched a Scorsese interview where he said that none of the traditional movie production companies wanted to finance it.

Eh, Scorsese comes to you saying he's ready to make a gangster movie, and DeNiro, Pesci, Pacino and Keitel are all onboard and you say, "no"!? WTAF. I really worry about the future of movie making - seems that unless it's 'franchise' worthy, then they ain't gonna dig deep enough into their pockets anymore. They're no longer satisfied with making excellent movies and turning a good profit - they'd rather knock that back to produce ropey Superhero * and make OBSCENE profit instead. Make no mistake - this movie would have turned a healthy profit as a standalone cinema... just not enough it seems to make it worth their while!

I'm not fooled by Netflix either - they only took it on to get themselves a front-row table at the Oscars. It'll be a HUGE loss-leader for them as it's only being shown at a handful of arthouse cinemas (and a shitload of folks have signed up on the 1-month free trial just to see this and will likely cancel straight away afterwards), but they want movie-making credibility and in some perverse way, this satisfies that strategy.

    3.5hrs?
That may have more to do with cinemas not wanting to take it up?

Can't believe, as @scootz says, that those names attached and the demand for grittier/darker films and studios didn't pick this up. It's a no * brainer.

That may be what's also fueled Scorsese recent comments on superhero/marvel franchise nonsense.
Dare to imagine he took this to a studio and they all wanted the next franchise or too busy with these formulated pish, that they told him to come back later with it.

Seen an hour of it so far.
Enjoying the story but the main actors are just too old to be playing these characters.

I looked into it and the reason big cinemas aren’t showing it is because of how quick it’s going from cinema release to streaming availability.

About half an hour in. Brilliant so far.

The de aging thing looks fine, however De Niro looked every inch his age when dishing out the beating to the corner shop owner :giggle1:
