Good luck tonight lads. One off game and anything can happen!!
Heading to this tonight with the kids.
Gotta admit I'm not too hopeful, but we've all watched enough sport to know anything can happen.
Bit harsh. Who are we playing ?
Fun read in the Guardian about this game: Republic of Ireland v Denmark and an unlikely circle of footballing *
Sums up the games perfectly! I think we'll lose / not qualify tonight but will still get through the playoffs..Who knows! It'll have to be a cheeky stream for me tonight and... COYBIG..92nd minute headed goal!!! P.S. I may actually have got me a 30 hour a week job = I may finally get orf the dole TF!...The beers are cooling!
Not confident at all about tonight, however that is mainly because I had it in my head most of our back 5 was missing including Duffy who it seems is actually captain so I must have been more * than I thought watching the Switzerland game.
Ta big man! I was convinced that it was a do or die game..and then when I found out we'd already qualified for the playoffs I was like..nice! My guess is a draw tonight with the Danes to qualify..but who knows, it could be a Shane Long Germany moment..or a 5-1 Eriksen one lol!
Would like to see Ireland go for it tonight and no be too cagey..
Would start Robbie Brady as before injury always felt he was the one most likely to be involved in a goal. Quality left peg..
Parrot and Cullen look good..
Hopefully get the win. Tough game though as the Danes have a lot of firepower..
A bit too safe that lineup..
4 centre mids. 1 winger..
Maybe keeping it tight to gamble later on..
Can't see Ireland doing it, just don't seem to have enough goals in them. Probably need 2 but will be lucky to get 1.
Watching them the last year or two McClean seems their best attacking player, most goes through him in terms of crossing, shooting and carrying the ball forward and i've always considered him a more hard working and solid player than an attacking one it highlights how ineffective the other attacking players are that he always stands out.
Brady and Robinson more likely to make something happen in my opinion and aren't starting..
Getting a wee bit more confident now.
Then again I have already had 12 Magners
They've been kind of unfortunate with injury in recent years with Coleman, McCarthy and Brady all injured for long times and maybe never getting back to their best and even now Keogh done when him and Duffy were a good pairing for them.
Not seen much of Robinson but would agree about Brady, he ideally would either be playing left-back or #10 for them but with Whelan needing to play and not having great legs and other players like Hendrick, Hoirihane and Browne not being too defensive it's probably better for them to go Whelan and 3 centre-mids than play Brady in an attacking position as well. Can always bring him on later if they keep it tight which probably will be their best chance.
If they hadn't had injury problems or suspencions a team like
Coleman Duffy Keogh Doherty
Brady Hendrick Hourihane McClean
Would have been decent but the team they have out tonight looks weak.
12 Magners lol! I love that gear but gave it up as it was like drinking a bag of sugar so was destroying my gums and guts...he says slurping a Stella (not much of an improvement!)
Not sure how to feel, a part of me is ready for disappointment but then again I've seen us produce special nights against the odds before. The atmosphere should be unreal, kinda kicking myself that I'm not there. COYBIG.
Hoping that the arch enemy of football 'buffering' doesn't show up tonight! TV says we need 2 goals...so..er...come on the playoff draw Friday, 1400 hehe!
We just need to win unless Switzerland draw with Gibraltar. That is the only scenario where the "2 goal thing" comes into play.
