In fairness to Big Mick this is not his mess but boy are we going to suffer in this qualifying campaign. We have just nothing to offer of any quality at all in the final third. Maybe if indeed Delaney is gone we will finally be able to get the kind of root and branch change in focus we so badly need as a footballing nation. We need all our best 12-17 year olds playing in a full time national academy with full time professional training so they have the proper early footballing education they need to allow them to flourish as they grow into their careers and that gives they the technical base to give them a chance at making it to the top levels of the game. We also need to develop a change in ethos of how we teach the young kids to play the game. We need players comfortable on the ball who want it and can pass it and keep it and express themselves with it not the long ball as option A and B which is all we have now and which is just horrible to watch win lose or draw.

I’m Irish, but I’m also honest. A 1-0 win against Gibraltar doesn’t cut the mustard for me mate

No other country outsources the formation of their players in that level, not even extremely poor african countries have this unglorious record of never having a player of the local league taking part in a competitive. FAI's plan seems to be ring guys with an irish grandpa in London and hope they don't choose England.

The Chief Executive of the FAI John Delaney is to step aside from his role with immediate effect.

He will assume a different role within the Association, that of Executive Vice President with responsibility for all UEFA and FIFA matters including the proposed World Cup 2030 bid with the UK, the Under 21 Euro bid with Northern Ireland and matters pertaining to the Aviva Stadium from an FAI perspective.

It is understood that Ireland would host a significant number of games in the World Cup should the proposed bid prove successful.

I’m Scottish and would have bit your hand off for a 1-0 win against an underdog a few days back..

A win against Georgia will put you top of the group, it could be worse.

McClean has given everything he can offer to Ireland. I'm grateful but my * he is far from good enough now.

I stand by the 4231 I originally posted. Duffy and Keogh haven't an ounce of footballing ability between them. Both solid defenders but it needs to be Egan beside Duffy. Maguire dropped for Arter, McClean dropped for Brady and we have a chance against Georgia.

Tuesday will tell an awful lot. I simply can't see us winning. I can see us getting played off the park to be perfectly honest.

The bookies gave Scotland a 51% chance of winning.. they gave Ireland a 97% chance. Kazakhstan would stuff Gibraltar.

I expected you guys to win by more as well tbh but 3 points is 3 points.

You move on to the next game and hopefully get another 3 from Georgia and then head over to Denmark top of the group.

Disappointing especially in a group that could come down to goal difference, that being said it's still better than being pumped by Kazakhstan
