Yeah Owen got away with so much of that in his career, some of those Irish players looked good, Babb looked quality that team would probably do well against the current Ireland team.

 

Sadly looking at that group of players and thinking about the level they played at when at the peak of their careers and then contrast that with the current squad and it is areal indictment against Delaney and the total failure of the FAI to properly develop the best young talent in Ireland just assuming things would take still care of themselves when our kids went across the water like it used.

 

Smart decision if he think he will get a game for England or even get into their squad, far better chance of going to International tournaments which is all players are really interested in anyway.

I don't know why waited for this * to make a decision. he clearly was not committed to us and was never going to choose us ahead of England if he had any chance of playing for them. I for one am happy with his decision and good riddance to the English impostor

 

Hope his next * is a hedgehog.

Sounds like he's keeping his options open. Pledge to England and if he doesn't get a call up he's still eligible to play for Ireland.

 

He's probably made the right choice, let's be honest about it.

 

I've been surprised just how good he is at centre mid when I've seen him this season..

Genuinely think he'll start for England regularly soon..

Big loss and why boy's like this should be getting capped competitively at a young age when around the squads. Otherwise player's like this, born in England, if good enough....will continue to be poached..

 

That isn't how it works. Once the paperwork goes through he can only ever play for England.

It is a shame as he seems a quality player, but it was a difficult decision for him.

 

England's weak link seems to be Eric Dier, I am amazed they have found nobody better before now. I think he will be a regular as soon as the paperwork goes through.

 

How can you not know what country is in your heart at the age of 20?

 

I don't think so, it's only when he plays a full competitive international he is tied in to a nation.

 

He’s a * *, he’s used us until this point and has hindered opportunities/the development of kids that are actually Irish and would give their bollox to play for the country.

Hope his career takes a nose dive like that other * Grealish.

 

Aye. Rice is already a better player than Dier. He has massive potential.
