Legends everywhere you look. Record goalscorers. Appearance holders. Captains. Leaders. We all know about every player on the park, some more than others. Bobby Collins and Jimmy McMenemy perhaps not as familiar but generally regarded as club legends.

Not going to to through every player as I don't think it is needed. I'll just say that I feel I have a bit of everything in this side. With players from the 1920s right through to the 90s, which is quite nice.

3-4-3 old style. Attack and play the Celtic way.

    Bonner

    McCarthy--Stein--Clark

    Collins--Macleod--Grant---Miller

    McMenemy--McClair
    McGrory

For anyone who can't see the image that is roughly how it is. With the two strikers playing just in behind/rotating with Jimmy.

Always meant to ask this, but how do you guys come to the conclusion of your votes with the likes of attack and that?

I mean, if somecunt goes 4-4-2, do yous class the two strikers as attackers?

Or if 4-3-2-1, do yous class the two wingers as attackers, and do they get included in midfield anaw?

    etc etc...

If it's a 4-4-2 the two strikers are the attack. 4-3-3 the 3 main forwards etc. Basically anyone I feel would contribute to the goals and assists.

In a 4-3-2-1 the two wingers would only be the attack.

    Sound.

    What about wing backs?

I mean surely they are both defenders and midfielders?

    I confused, me am.

    4321 - The 2 and 1 are attackers.

4231 is probably the most difficult for me to judge. The number 10...I don't know whether they should be a midfielder or attacker.

    That's what I mean.

if you pick a 4-2-3-1 then really the two CM's are obviously midfielders, but the no.10 would also surely be in midfield, but he's also an attacker, alongside the two wingers who could also be classed as attackers and/or midfielders

I suppose it would depend on how the graphic looked.

If the number 10 was in line with the two wingers then I'd probably class him as an attacker. If he was sitting closer to the midfield 2 then I'd class him as a midfielder.

Maybe we should set out ground rules...

It's no really a gripe or anything, just something that's crossed my mind like when thinking of votes, incase I've unfairly overlooked teams because I've misjudged or whatever.

GK - Jonathon Gould - The keeper who stopped 10iar. Need I say more?

LB - Tosh McKinlay - Celtic's brave attacking fullback during the darkest of days. Delivered the goal that won Celtic the Scottish Cup in 1995, their first trophy since 1989.
CB - John Kennedy - What could have been. Stopped Barcelona in the Camp Nou, and then defeated the huns 3 days later.
CB - Derek Whyte - Debuted at age 17 with a maturity beyond his years. Official sexiest Celt.
RB - Chris Morris - Stalwart feature of the centennary double-winning side.

LW - Bertie Auld - Lion. Leader. Legend. Ushered Celtic into our Golden Age with 2 goals in the 1965 Scottish Cup Final. Not enough can be said.
CM - Victor Wanyama - That goal against Barcelona... That he's gone on to cement himself as one of the best DMs in the world since leaving Celtic is unsurprising.
CM - Paul McStay - The Maestro. Our greatest midfielder of all time.
RW - Patsy Gallacher - Only topped by Jinky as the greatest RW we've ever had. 464 games and 192 goals as a winger. Ooft.

FW - Charlie Nicholas - 48 goals in the 1982/83 season. Beat Johann Cruyff's Ajax in the European Cup. Beat the huns at Ibrox on New Years' for the first time since Jimmy McGrory.
FW - Willie Fernie - And Willie Fernie scored as well, as Celtic beat the Rangers 7-1. Instrumental in our Coronation Cup win as well.

    Appearances: 2747
    Goals: 608

    European Cup: 1
    Coronation Cup: 1

    League Titles: 27
    Scottish Cups: 22
    League Cups: 17

My general rule of thumb is that I think of which players are attacking and take all of them into consideration when doing best attack, which players would be doing midfield work and which players would mainly be defending. Position on the pitch is the most important indicator, but I do take what I previously said into consideration. 442, I'd mainly vote on the attack based on the two strikers. 4231, I'd mainly vote on the attack based on the front 4, but in that same formation I'd include the 2 CMs and the 3AMs in the midfield vote. If a team has a defensive midfielder, I take that into consideration for the defence too, but it's mainly the actual defenders I'd vote on.
