Says the man that subsequently personally stole over £6 million from UK taxpayers and hasn't had his knighthood removed or spent a day in jail.

If we are to name anything after anyone behind the scenes it should be Dermott Desmond i'd say. McCann played his part but Desmond has actually built the club up to another level.

Desmond paid for 25% of the building of the stadium, he paid for Lennoxtown and he paid for Martin O'Neill's initial signings, he also bought McCann's shares off him enabling McCann to walk away in something like £15million profit - then ran the club extremely well for 20 years overseeing the growth of the Club in every department. He doesn't really get any credit either.

Nobody has invested near the money directly into the club as Desmond which is something like £35million and nobody has really put in the time either to running it well over the long haul.

Should name the part were the huns sit after him. It will really * them off sitting in the stand named after the man who saved our club whilst their old club died because of their corrupt board.

Literally not a single bit of that matters if McCann doesn’t save the club.

Who had a bigger impact on you: the doctor who saved your life or the personal trainer who got you in great shape? Obviously both deserve some gratitude, but not on the same level.

Actually, if your figure of 35m is right - if you've got 10 grand to your name and you've spent 200 quid on Celtic then proportionally you're a bigger investor than Desmond.

There were many doctors though, one of whom was Desmond himself.

McCann deserves credit for being the one who stepped in and put up money but others also put up money before during and after to keep us out of Administration and revamp the club as well.

McCann was here for the overseeing of the club coming out of debt and building the stadium but so was Desmond who was also here for the overtaking of the huns, the come back to European glory, the building of the Training ground, the revamp of the stadium and the winning of dozens of trophies O'Neill and Rodgers eras.

Statue status for me would be if he remained at the club for the whole comeback or if he handed the club back the £15million profit to improve futher.

Both of them had good plans and the right vision but one left after 5 years with bags of money and one has been involved ever since seeing the job through till the end.

Agree, it was a great job he done. But is it stadium or statue status? not for me, maybe if he did it singlehandedly and put up every penny to do the revamp with no help or as I said if he handed back the profits he made to further help the club which would have been selfless and a huge gesture.

For me though if we are going to reward behind the scenes guys Desmond has had millions in the club for over 25 years and time and time again has stepped up for the benefit of the club. 1995, 1999, 2001, 2005 only one guy handed over £millions everytime to see the job through.

I previously said the least Celtic could do is name a stand after McCann,

Aye hate the idiotic way they name things after someone has died. Give them the pleasure and pride of having that accolade while they are still alive for fucksake.

Naming a stand after him would be the most appropriate considering it was him that put the stadium in place (as it is now). I certainly wouldnt object to them putting up a statue of him either. Its scary to think where we would have been with out him. Newco Celtic Est.1994, doesnt bear thinking about.
