Fergus did everything he set out to do while building a new stadium, he gave 5 years to the club and exposed the corrupt SFA as a bonus.

25 years wow, doesn't feel that long, the 5 years before he arrived felt like 25 :55:

Would love to name a stand or even get a statue sculpted. A genuine Celtic fan heart and soul he used half his capital while the pretenders and doubters with much more disposable income said he was crazy and building a 60,000 stadium was insane because we'll never fill it. The way the media treated us before he arrived with his foresight, they were salivating waiting for the clock to run down. Was scandalous to treat any team like that, unless they were cheating :56:

A true visionary, a major figure in our History, we literally might not be here if it wasn't for him and as @Whoflungdung pointed out he seen the SFA with a business man's eyes and knew something fishy was going on and he didn't hesitate to sort it out. Scared of nobody.

Fergus McCann in my view and being judged on the legacy he left Celtic, is as important to the history of the club as the founding fathers and he should at the very least have a stand named after him and indeed a statue. If McCann hadn't stepped in Celtic would be nowhere near the club it is now. He took a huge gamble putting half his personal available money up, ie not borrowed or other peoples, but his own when all the others were proved shysters. It is an eternal shame that the support ( or a good few of them ) actually booed the man when he unfurled the league flag at park head....but McCann didnt take any bull * and like it or not maybe his business methods did alienate some fans ie the 3 amigos saga.

Yeah I didn't boo him but I didn't like the way it went with tb and that * me off, but now many years on it is appreciated more exactly what he did for the club.

Aye, McCann was by no means perfect and the TB situation wasnt very good at all, but time has moved on, my favourite McCann saying was in reply to Murray saying for every £5 celts spend theyd spend £10 ( £5 of their own and as it turned out cheating the taxman for the other £5 ) ...McCann said simply, if thats the case then theyre gonna go bust.......Celtic fans should always see his involvement with their club as the stars aligning in their favour.

Said it before but booing him was shameful that day, over time that has been realised by the majority at least.
It's worth remembering he got as much stick as Pete does now perhaps people need to think about that.

Would be good to see some sort of fitting tribute to him at Celtic park, something named after him.

It makes me sick that we haven't a statue or a stand named after this man. We simply WOULD NOT EXIST.

I would rename the north stand - The Fergus McCann Stand

& A bronze statue out the front..

And this needs done before any hotels are built.

I think that it was clear to everyone at Celtic Park that he meant let's win nine-in-a-row this season and equal our previous record.

    Fuckwits.

MY favourite McCannisms.....when dealing with the take over and ex directors ..."I dont want to give them one thin dime " and deducting the shirt costs of the celtic top used in Andy Walkers signing on presser from Walkers wages ......if you watch the pennies the pounds take care of themselves .....................

Also and very ironic : "Fergus McCann]is the only person I've ever known who's made money out of football."
Former Rangers chairman David Murray, 2004
