Felt like it was one of the most exciting signings we'd made in ages at the time and I remember being buzzing to see him play. Then he actually did play...

The guy could whip in a good cross but a disaster of a signing.

Thought he'd have found a new club by now. If he's no injured again that is.

Mind being genuinely buzzing when we signed him.

I distinctly remember him playing a stormed on his debut. He did however, have to be subbed cause he picked up an injury......surprise surprise. But up until that point he was having a cracking debut.

Thing is De Boer publicly said as soon as we signed him that he was basically an injury prone waist of wages......But we didn't listen

Was at that game. He pretty much injured himself from what I remember. It was downhill from there.

His main contribution was taking game time off of the development squad. Not his fault but what a dud.

In the papers today he was sticking the boot into the (then?) clubs medical staff for not being able to diagnose a broken ankle and instead opting to beef him up with painkillers instead.

FORGOTTEN Celtic flop Derk Boerrigter has blamed the Parkhead medical staff for ending his career.

He claims they failed to diagnose his broken ankle as he finally breaks his silence on his Hoops nightmare.

The former Ajax winger cost Celtic a staggering £3 million in July 2013, before he was quietly released from his four-year contract in 2016.

His spell in Glasgow was an expensive nightmare for the Hoops and he was surely the most financially disastrous signing in the club’s history after making just eight starts, which worked out at an incredible £587,500 per start for his transfer fee and hefty £12,000-per week wages.

However, Boerrigter – who never kicked a ball again after his exit from Celtic – has put the blame for his calamitous spell in Scotland squarely at the door of the club’s medical department.

Boerrigter explained: “Ajax loaned Isaac Cuenca from Barcelona and put me out of their team.

“He cost Ajax about £100,000 per game so had to play.

“I was furious and decided I would join another club.

“My career at Celtic didn’t work out because of silly injuries.

“Those injury problems actually started at Ajax, but at Celtic things went badly wrong.

“Celtic then stuffed me full of painkillers, so I could keep playing.

“Then it turned out that it was ultimately a bone fracture in my ankle.

“I really blame Celtic’s medical staff for that.

“It was a real shame what happened.”

An injury on Boerrigter’s Hoops debut set the tone for his stay.

He went onto make only eight starts for Celtic – five in the league, one in the League Cup and two in Europe…against AC Milan and Barcelona, where Celtic got trounced 3-0 and 6-1.

Boerrigter, who is still only 31, was reportedly picking up a salary of up to a cool £12,000 a week, which netted him almost £1.7 million for his 140-week stay in Glasgow.

Added to his transfer fee, it meant Celtic invested £4.7 million on the wide man, for which they got one solitary goal in return…against Aberdeen in 2013.

Of his eight starts, Boerrigter got hooked in four of them and he played for a total of 512 minutes in the league for Celtic.

That meant it cost Celtic £9,180 for every minute he played in the Premiership.

could be just bitter but I wouldn't be that suprised if our medical team wasn't very good as we do seem to have had alot of injury prone players over last few seasons

So admittedly his injuries started at Ajax and it was Celtic medical teams fault. He was a * at Ajax and left the hoops a *.

Ultimately, a player will decide if he's fit enough to play or not. He's trying to shift the blame so he feels better about it in his own head.
