These years later I still get goosebumps from this. Envy the folks who managed to get over for this.

    Brilliant, revolutionary :notworthy

Jimi does a nice cover in Berkeley, with that bit of extra electricity it's spine tingling.

JImi was christened Johnny Allen Hendrix, Jah :drag:

Class, my favourite demonstration of Jimi's smooth as silk double stops and organic rhythm, even better than Little Wing and the lyrics are so vivid, doesn't get much better :50:

It's interesting, technically it's an easy song compared to the modern guitar wizards but due to his giant hands and natural sense of timing, it's impossible to get close to mimicking. Way he uses the thumb for base and has giant fingers to play the 'piano' style treble notes.

    Wonderful imagery in the lyrics.

Love Via and Cooder's work in this.

That's a cover version, but still good. Couldn't find Hendrix version on YouTube. Think thr Hendrix estate had a lot off them taken down, could be wrong tho

Aye from what I've read on YouTube the Hendrix estate aren't handling his unreleased material very well. There's loads of extremely ambitious or deluded folk posting his stuff with a suspiciously sounding mere mortal behind the strings, I mean if SRV can be spotted a mile away what hope do the tablutare guys :56:

Loads more stuff should be officially released though, doubt they're going to make that much keeping it for periodically releases.

The world needs to hear this guy!

Mind Prince was totally against it at first but sighed and gave in after realising you can't fight 50 million fans with your cds uploading every day :39:

Well said. Hendrix would have wanted the fans to hear it, otherwise what was the point of recording it

I guess the main albums are on Amazon Prime which isn't so bad (although The Jimi Hendrix Concerts is conspicuous by its absence, maybe a different ownership?) .

Young guitarists have got to hear this guy as soon as possible, especially Red House on Are You Experienced. Great interview with SRV talking about when he was 9 and his brother 10, both of them rushed back from the music store to put it on the record player and the world changed forever and they both knew exactly what they wanted to be when they grew up, achieving it too was quite remarkable :57:

Would definitely prefer they released a few more tracks on YouTube, doubt they're raking it in from Prime, I mean how much does someone get for one play of their song?

Btw if you ever get a chance you buy the Jimi Hendrix Concerts (Berkeley, Atalanta) at a reasonable price you should grab it. The vinyls are way pricey but I've seen the cds for £10 then the next day when I went to purchase it had changed to £25 :39: :47:

That tune was something else. Am going to have to check out more of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Only ever seen him do Hendrix covers

Texas Flood is maybe his signature tune? Stevie must've had the most powerful fingers and steel finger tips cause his sound is very powerful and unique, a lot to do with using 13 gauge strings

Ah I wish I could take the credit for that but it was @Zanderama who posted Castles. It's a cover version but the guy gets pretty close, much closer than most people trying to cover Jimi.

Covering JImi should be something all guitarists of all skill levels should keep to the bedroom. I've only heard one cover that I like which was.....wait for it.....Sting! His approach was to completely change the style of the song but keep it's essence which was very clever. That master stroke though was having Hiram Bullock (R.I.P) playing guitar. It's one of the great guitar solos because they stayed away from trying to copy, it was more a hommage. Even if you can't stand Sting, it's so well worth the listen for the guitar playing, lovely feel to it.
