Loved the bit where Renton is on top off the car and falls off. He starts to laugh like when he got hit by the car in the first one. Just little moments like that were ace.

I thought it was a bit slow and didn't seem to have much of a story to it. I think the only bit from the book that made it into the film was the 1690 scam. In the book they got the hot girl to start dating a geeky guy who works for Clydesdale bank so she could obtain bank details from him. A Hun mate of Spud's would often go on about how you can pick your own PIN with a Clydesdale bank card and the daft * had a 1690 tattoo on his arm. With the 1690 scam they were able to access several online bank accounts with that PIN.

I liked how Spud's writing was verbatim quotes from the original Trainspotting book. I wonder how Micky Forrester ended up with that massive warehouse? He ran saunas. I would love to have seen Juice Terry personified. That Bulgarian girl was a good choice, she is absolutely stunning.

I don't think that 2 has the rewatchibility factor of the first. It's one of those films that rewatching would be boring because you know what's happening next.

Blade Artist is a strange book. Although it's meant to be Begbie, the man in that book just didn't seem like Begbie. Especially if you've read Begbie's bits in Trainspotting and *, it just didn't seem like the same character

I never finished 'the blade artist, had to give it back to the library 6 months overdue and a fine on top. Al finish it another time. I know what you mean tho, i kept thinking begbie was going to snap, but i wont know if he does or not till i get round to finishing the book. Id love to see juice Terry in a film too. The spice ay life

I have Blade Artist saved as a PDF. If you want it I can email it to you, I think the file is just a few MB.

    Just back from seeing it.

Thought it was excellent tbh. Was engrossed from the very start.

Loved the way it was filmed and the whole feel of it, as said above it had a different feeling to the first but I suppose 20 years has that effect.

Carlisle makes the film for me. I find Renton and McGregor in general really hard to engage with. Don't rate him as an actor.

The Orange lodge scene was genius. When they started typing the pins in everyone in the cinema burst out laughing.

Great watch though which is funny, emotional and packed with nostalgia.

    Absolutely amazing.

A completely different movie to the original so pointless to compare. Some of the wee hints at the old one were brilliant though like the smile after the begbie chase or the gasp of air he takes on the pool table.

The lodge scene is probably the most I've ever laughed in a cinema. The look on sickboys face when Renton sings the lyrics is priceless.

The restaurant scene though. Just wow.

During the movie I was annoyed they never gave born slippy a proper blasting but I think it was the biggest sign that while it's a sequel it stands alone in many regards.

Enjoyed the kind of troubled genius arc on spud. It was there in the first but not explored.

I'd go as far as saying that the Hun pub scene is the funniest scene I've ever watched. Just when they get to the bank and the pins work, never laughed so much. Also loved the bit in the flat were Renton and Sick Boy go on about random stuff like George Best.

Went to see it yesterday and thought it was great. I feel like anyone panning this movie went in with the intention to dislike.

Think there's a small element of that, but there seems to be many more who are just stuck in 1996, and wanted the zeitgeist original reinvented... or not at all.

I think any sensible-sort could see that that was never going to happen. It simply couldn't - it would have fallen flat on it's face had they tried!

The characters are 20 years older. The team is 20 years older. The fans that were 'there' at the time of the first movie are 20 years older. The 'scene' is not as vibrant as it was at the time of the first movie. 2016 was VERY different to 1996. It HAD to be more mellow than the first movie. A too-cool-for-school re-boot would have been a lazy flop.

I think they pretty-much nailed-it as well as they could.

T1 was the teams masterpiece. T2 was a very good follow-up.

The second film was recorded on a relatively modest budget, no-one was getting super-star wages, there was no shameless attempt to chase movie awards. My impression is that T2 was the teams gift for the fans. The first film made them all, and T2 was the 'thank you'.

It was good, but not up to the same standard as the original.

The hun pub scene was absolutely hilarious. I don't remember the last time I was in a cinema with such laughter.

The scary thought is the accuracy of it.
