All I'm saying is it must be very appealing, and very difficult to turn your nose up at a potential 30k+ p/w wage increase. You can say you'd like to think you'd take an improved contract at the club, and that's fine, but when push comes to shove, and I ain't calling you a liar mate, but for me, and I absoloutely love my club, live breathe and die and all that, if I was playing for Celtic and I was offered megabucks elsewhere, then I'm off. Simple as that

Great deal for us, get McGinn as a replacement then splash some cash on the defence and a winger.

On his day he can be brilliant. Unfortunately those days came to few and far between.

In the past when Southampton have bought from us I believe they have been clever picking up talent from us. Wanyama and van dijk both going for more than we sold them. This time I think we are robbing them.

Anyway, Armstrong holds himself alot higher pegged than he should. Wish him the best but think he is in for a sudden realization of how good he had it here

I think they robbed us with van dijk ,wanyama and forster but * it they seem to be the only ones in england who rate the quality of players we have and put up the £££££. Armstrong will do fine in the super-duper premier league and the Southampton fans will all be crying when he moves to Liverpool the season after next

He’s a great player and will do well down there. He clearly didn’t want to be here tho. Adios

Armstrong is streets ahead of McGinn. And definitely not a like for like replacement.

Go and spend minimum £5m on a quality replacement that'll hold his own in Europe

To get 7m for a player who isn't a great passer, has poor control and possibly a poorer 1st touch is a great bit of business.

As much as I hope he does well, I think he possibly hit his peak with us. Don't think he has another level higher than what we have seen.

He doesn't really use his physique all that well too. Is a shame though because his song was a belter.

He was a good player for us but his heart wasn’t here in the end. No hard feelings, he’s never kept his desire to play in England a secret. Happy with the fee and good luck to him.

I also am not convinced he needs replaced. Brown Ntcham Rogic McGregor Kouassi that’s 5 center mids not to mention Bitton Benyu and Christie on the fringes. We basically got by just fine last season without Armstrong

Well he’s 4 years older, McGinn at 22 is a much better player than Armstrong at 22.

Of course not since McGinn can actually defend well. How do you know McGinn wont hold his own in Europe?

Name a centre mid that we can get for 5M that has proven themselves in Europe that’s young and can fit in our system.
