Just herd on the news weve contacted Killie over Naismith . For the love of * how many players do we want from the SPL . If Rangers want him , we want him , it looks like our Chief Scout is actually Walter Smith . GS better get the finger out and sign good players :31::47:

    Celtic make approach for Naismith

[IMG] Naismith won his first senior cap for Scotland on Wednesday

Celtic have informed Kilmarnock about their interest in striker Steven Naismith, BBC Scotland understands.
As yet, no firm offer has been made by the Scottish champions but an approach was made to Kilmarnock on Friday about a possible deal for the 20-year-old.
The Ayrshire club recently rejected a bid from Rangers of £400,000 for the highly-rated Scotland international Kilmarnock claim they also knocked back an offer for Naismith from an unnamed English club. Naismith, named SPL young player of the year, scored 18 goals for Kilmarnock last season and won his first Scotland cap in the Euro 2008 qualifier victory over the Faroe Islands.

Scott McDonald? Chris Killen? And now Naismith? For *'s sake this is getting ridiculous. He is a good SPL player etc etc but even though we're not the biggest team in Europe we should still be aiming to sign players of a higher calibre that have European experience-after all, isn't doing well in the Champions League our top priority now? :31:

Why is it any time a quality player is mentioned in the same breath as Celtic we rubbish it ?
Maakay and Bellamy would come to us imo
Naismith is a decent young player but as ive said hes nowhere near as good as Bellamy

ok JAROSIK OR SNO stop being arrogant I think he will try to sign bellamy but we might not be able to becuase liverpool I hear are wanting 9 million which is way to much.

Mcdonald can shine in the UCl and so could naismith we can't afford top quality prospects like the two man u just bought Nani and Anderson.

The only transfer which confuses me is the transfer of Chris killen as Naismith I think is better than him.

But naismith is better than mcgeady as his stats show.

Remember the lisbon lions all came from 30 miles of celtic park well now we are getting our talents from all over scotland who are ranked 14 in the world which isn't half bad considering the best scotland team doesn't always get played.

naismith I guess will start ahead of Mcgeady and it looks like celtic are bring in Appah

    Boruc

    Wilson-Kennedy-Mcmanus-Naylor

    Naka-Brown-Appah-Naismith

    Jvoh-Mcdonald

    What a team that is:

    Appah box to box
    Brown driving through midfield
    Naismith taking the ball upfront
    Mcdonald getting into good positions
Naka with a pin point passes
    Jvoh Getting shots on target

Both Naka and Naismith like to come into the middle and with Mcdonald upfront with Jvoh they have someone to pass the ball to.

That team would win the spl hands down and the Ucl into the last 8

Jesus Christ... maybe third striker signing from lower scottish clubs who none of them aren't better than our two best strikers we already have? (VoH and Magic ... yes correct. Zurawski is better than Naismith etc!!!).

    What a waste of wages.

Last season we some of the time only play with one striker... - And now we nearly can play with 10 strikers and a keeper.

We have too many "back ups/reserves" who aren't good enough to european football. Face it.
All major european clubs will laugh their * of.
If Celtic couldn't outgunning Rangers in the financial will would have a huge problem.

not in maakay's or bellamys they MAY come, but would cost 10 times the price as an spl player, once both the transfer fee and wages are on the table.

celtic wil have a FEW quality players, i.e. hesselink , boruc, naka, brown, and hopfully another proven striker
celtic cant afford 11 top class champions league proven players its just not possiable.

that'd explain why there is 5-6million quid price diffrence then eh?

i'd rather have naismith than mcgeady i think.

mcgeady is good at taking on a player, but he does it twice, three times then loses it- thats why shaun was better than him. because shauns final ball was second to none.

yeah, and if you cant afford the best just dont bother?
    good plan
celtic will nevr have 11 top class players. plus, as stated before by someone we wer playing with 1 up front at times last season, who would have said no to mcdonald, killen, naismith then?

I don't know why everyone want s another stiker and naismith isn't just a striker thats why he is perfect, he can play center midfield or on the left wing or as a striker or as a supporting striker.

Wouldn't mind Naismith, looks a decent prospect, Killen and McDonald have probably been bought to replace Miller & Beattie.
I still think JVOH and Magic are good enough for the CL with McDonald, Kilen and maybe Naismith as back up.
I still expect Balde, Tommy G and Jarosik to join Miller & Beattie on the way out.
    Have faith in Strachan.
