Think this is pretty much our squad at the minute, obviously can be improved upon, but we have 31 players, really need some players shipped out imo

This is how I would assess our squad (excluding players who are out on loan or who have no future here):

    GK: Bain, Gordon
    RB: Elhamed
    CB: Jullien, Ajer, Šimunović, Bitton
    LB: Tierney, Bolingoli, Hayes
CM: McGregor, Christie, Brown, Ntcham, Connell, Kouassi
    RW: Forrest, Shved, Dembélé
    CAM: Rogić, Henderson, Morgan
    LW: Johnston, Sinclair, Arzani (loan)
    ST: Édouard, Griffiths, Bayo

    Key

Senior (over 21 or established first-team player)
    Senior (replacement needed)
Prospect (21 or under, but unproven)

    ***

This is what we should be aiming for by February, in my opinion:

    GK:
    Goalkeeper, Bain
    RB: Right-back, Elhamed
    CB: Jullien, Ajer, Centre-half, Centre-half
    LB: Tierney, Bolingoli
CM: McGregor, Christie, Box-to-box midfielder, Brown, Connell, Kouassi/Holding midfielder
    RW: Forrest, Shved, Dembélé
    CAM: Attacking midfielder, Rogić, Henderson
LW: Left winger, Johnston, Arzani (on loan)
    ST: Édouard, Griffiths, Bayo

If we can add a proven RB and a young CB to replace Hendry I'd be happy for now assuming no-one else leaves. Might be worth cashing in on Sinclair but still think he could be very useful as the season goes on.

Longer term focus needs to be a CM capable of replacing Brown in 2 years time..

    @Vertie - Morgan is only 22. I assume u meant young prospect?

We need a 1st choice Keeper. 1st Choice RB. Challenging for 1st spot CB. as a priority.

That’s what I would say is our strongest 22 as we speak.

A RB and LB and we’re set.

If we were to sign a RB that can compete with Elhamed then that kills two birds with one stone with Elhamed becoming an option at centre back too.

LB is definitely our weak link just now so we need to get one in that can defend first and foremost.

I’ve put Sinclair in as backup to Johnston as I’m hoping Lennon will eventually realise that Morgan isn’t good enough to play wide.

A few players like Bayo, Kouassi, Morgan, Karamoko etc in the background.

Still also think we need another midfielder as a couple of injuries we are struggling there and what we will see is we buy another defender and bring in two loan signings .

Defence is a bombscare waiting to happen.

Ajer is by far our best centre back but he’s still only 21 and learning the position himself after being converted to a CB. He will make mistakes.

Jullien looked very dodgy in the 1st half against Dunfermline but I’m hopeful that he will come good. Could take him a few months to settle though.

Jozo we all know he’s liable to making mistakes when he loses concentration. He’s been playing well but his injury record is a concern and he can’t play on Astro surfaces.

Bitton is not a CB but is capable of filling in against SPL dross.

Elhamed looks competent and steady although we can’t pin all of our hopes on him just yet. We’ve only seen a small sample of him.

Bolingoli is more up and down than a rollercoaster. Has all the attributes to do well but again it’s a question of how long will it take him to settle.

Ralston and Hayes are not good enough.

We need a RB, LB and CB without a shadow of a doubt. And experienced ones.

We need a right back, left back and a left winger in my opinion. I would actually switch Elhamed to centre back to partner Ajer. I like him- he is pacey and can read the game. Boli and Julien need to do much more to convince. I think Johnston will be quality but its too soon. Morgan is not of the required standard. Sinclair may yet go. A top quality winger is required. I will probably get slaughtered for this but we should be targeting Ryan Kent. He is quality. We have the money to make that happen. Add Melling for a few million and a right back and we are sorted.

    The defence is rotten.

Dud at left back. Ajer is the only reliable centre half at the moment (Jullien we’ve yet to really see), so a serious injury to him and we’re in soapy. Elhamed looks decent but not sure if he’s what we’re looking for if we want to keep improving.

    LB and RB are essential.

People saying we need a big monster hard * at the back.

Well am not his biggest fan but there is a big Tim sitting up in Aberdeen who is hard as nails and won’t take any * who would roll over roasting hot coals to wear the hoops!

Might not be the most technical, but has power, pace and attacks the ball well.

Might not be everybody’s up of tea but Scott McKenna step forward!

Front 5, by that I mean attacking minded players then we have a plethora of ways to mix it up and should score plenty.

Back 6, including goalie and sitting midfielder we are pish. I like Ajer and the El hamed, the rest are pish.

Time has caught up with Broony and we dont have a replacement of his style anywhere near his level.

I'm summary, we might need to win a lot of games 4-3 this year.

At this stage I would take him but there's no way we can pay more than £5 mil for him. £5 mil would be a bit steep as it is but they want more

I think what stands out from that 22 the way you have put it is

    1. We are extremely light weight from midfield to up front in terms of physicality.

    2. Our Defence is in serious trouble with one or two injuries

Worried if I'm being honest with the amount of games we play and the hammer throwing * we play against
