My Mum was at the Doctors a few weeks ago to get the patches etc, they done some test to measure the carbon monoxide levels in her lungs iirc.

She's had it tested before and both times it has came back for a woman that has smoked about 25 a day for about 20 years her levels are always very low that even the docs are surprised.

No matter what she tries she still can't quit for any decent length of time.

Has she tried Champix? I find methods that try to ween you off nicotine pretty pointless the only way is methods that stop all nicotine intake completely.

I stopped with laser therapy, it was an old driver the recommend it after he said he stopped for 20 year after laser therapy

I was a tad skeptical, it was a woman in killie I went to see and I went for 3 sessions and never smoked again (bar the entries in this thread :56:) I'm not sure if it was the laser therapy or that it cost me £160 this made me stop haha but It worked.

It's because alcohol triggers the part of your brain that deals with cravings, therefore you're more likely to want to smoke when you're having a pint.

Like above. Only smoke weekends when drinking. Been doing it few months now hope it doesn't lead to FT smoking.

Getting close to being ready to give up now. Still smoking no more than 4-5 a day and I'm now smoking Silk Cut silvers which are about 10% the strength of brands like Mayfair or Regal. If I smoke Mayfair or Regal now it is just overpowering, don't enjoy it at all. Think I'll try and pack it in after the Scottish Cup Final. Through the week will be easy enough, it's just when I'm out drinking I'm gonna struggle.

Very very rarely. Like the odd time when I'm drinking but even then I rarely find them that tempting unless I get offered one then I might just take it.

In saying that I do use tobacco for joints, and I do that every second weekend or so, so I can't exactly claim to be a saint in that regard. :87:

Good luck to the lads trying to quit. My Mrs has just bought herself one of those vape systems and hasn't had a cigarette for 5 days. Hopefully she'll eventually get rid of the vape thing too.

One of those thing's I just don't understand how people get caught up being addicted on..

Puff, which I've had a wee spell on when younger (but not for me), I can but smoking just beats me..

Got my brother staying with me for a bit and I send him outside smoking. Don't care what time it is.

Thankfully my missus stopped again after a spell when her old dear died..

I'm anything but perfect before anyone starts..

My missus did smoke, stopped when she was pregnant and thankfully hasn't started back up

Don't smoke cigarettes, never saw the point even when most of my mates started at an early age.

Will smoke weed if people around me are when I'm drinking, don't smoke it regularly though.

Vapers can get to *, smoking it in the pub with their huge clouds floating in front of the projector. *.

I've smoked the equivalent of about two full cigarettes altogether when *, but the last time was about three years ago and won't ever again.

The only time I ever really smoke sober is when I get cigars on holiday, I do enjoy them. Even when I get weed I make brownies out of it rather than smoke it, but that's more because I can't smoke properly..

Finally ran out of the 40 packets of tobacco I brought back from Spain last year, back to buying a packet every week now.

Seriously considering giving it up now. I've had enough of the coughing and constant phlegm.

The weed is the only thing that stops me from having tried to quit more often, I love a relaxing joint.

Just need to make a pipe or get a bong, not sure they will be more satisfying though.

Smoke now and again, mainly when drinking. Got an e cigarette but more hassle than it is worth, constantly charging it refilling it changing coils, also pretty expensive if you are not a heavy smoker. Might try one of the disposable e cigarettes.

I would smoke it but I genuinely can't, have tried several times and it does nothing for me. Brownies on the other hand...
