So I have a choice weather to spend a semester studying in Brisbane,Australia this year or not. I would be going out next month and coming back in June/July. It sounds like an amazing experience but the only thing that am worried about is finance. I should be able to afford it overall but it means I will be coming back here in the summer basically broke. I would also be going out there myself (but I suppose I will get to know people out there) and I could be making my university course harder for myself (am currently in 3rd year).

Do you think I should just do it?

Whenever I'm trying to make a major decision like the one you're making I always consider what stance I would take if I were laying on my deathbed at age 90. When you're on your last leg looking back at your life would you have more regret missing a once in a lifetime opportunity or being skint for a few months. * go man!

    Yes, without a doubt.

An exchange year is the best thing i have done. You'll regret not doing it.

Life's too short mate, unless it's going to put you in piles of debt then go for it :50:

If it's an ERASMUS your doing, you get money off the British Council, so I wouldn't worry about money as such.

    What course are you doing?

ERASMUS funding is only provided if you stay within Europe.

But still, as the OP said he can afford it and he'll just be coming back skint. Get out there, have a great time and come back and work over the Summer.

I know someone that went over there for a year on an exchange and managed to find a part-time job out there, so if you're that worried about money that'd be an option.
