    Scott Brown has revealed that former Celtic team-mate Shaun Maloney was at the club’s Lennoxtown training complex as reports linked him with a coaching role with the under-20s.

    Maloney, 34, is a free agent after turning down a one-year extension at Hull and has also been linked with a move to Aberdeen.

    Brown said:

    He was in looking at the facilities and seeing the gaffer’s coaching.
    The wee man would be brilliant. I had some great times with him.
    He will bring class.

    I was sure he left after the 2005/06 season but apparently he played in some champions league games under strachan in 2006??

    yeah just checked it, played 15 games and no goals that season. I dont recall much discussion about his drop of form at the time.

    him, zurwaski and balde all played in the 1-0 defeat of man utd which i find odd as I just don't associate those players with that season

    Zurawski was in and out of the squad with injuries, Balde broke his leg then never really played again. He played a handful of times in 07/08

    Would be a good move to get him in IMO.

    He broke through as a teenager in the most talented Celtic side for many a year and played with our greatest ever player (IMO again). Was nurtured by him, even.

    Plenty of experience to pass on to guys hoping to break through.

    He signed a pre-contract and then we sold for £1 million I'm sure. For a 'lifelong Celtic fan' who Celtic had stuck by through years of injury it was pretty poor. Contrast that with Petrov who also left for Villa and signed a 5 year deal to make sure we got top dollar for him.

    Would be great to have him back as a coach. Has played around the world and has experience at the highest level. He's a great Celtic man too.

    I'd assume if we have offered him the u20s it means Kolo has knocked back a coaching role here. Not sure how I feel about Maloney as a coach. Although he would have had plenty time to pick up coaching skills while on the injury table for a fair chunk of his playing career I guess.

    Kolo would be involved in the first team because he'd still be playing with them. Defensive coach rather than youth coach. I'm sure the youth team would utilise him too.

    CD on being asked about the potential of adding Shaun Maloney to the #CelticFC coaching staff: "Something the club are looking at.

    CD: "I've met him once or twice and been really impressed. Brings a lot of experience and of course his Celtic connection."

    CD: "Don't know exactly what's happening there so we'll see how that evolves over the next couple of days."
