How many of them have genuine top level experience? Absolutely none of them. Obviously they need to build for the future but having guys like that around could be a real asset to them. Commons could play on for a while as he's never exactly been incredibly mobile and is a class above any of their current squad.

They could still be important players for most of Premiership sides. Commons had a serious lack of game time before his loan, he even had injury while he was not playing, if he stayed until end of the season, I have no doubts that he would bring many points to Hibs.

Maloney and Commons would be very good players in the SPL.

Look at Scott McDonald and Kenny Miller who play the midfield link-player for their teams who still do well, none are technically as good as those two.

Maloney and Commons are still above most of what's in the SPL (bar us)

Maloney will be good for 5 games until he gets crocked.

Hibs would be better concentrating on Stokes and Commons.

If Hibs sign Maloney, Mulgrew, Stokes and Commons they'll finish a comfortable second next season.

I think he will go to Aberdeen.

    He grew up there.

Shaun Maloney is being lined up for a surprise return to Celtic as a coach for their under-20s team.

The Parkhead club are on the lookout for a new coach after Jim McGuinness quit for a job in the Chinese Super League, joining Beijing Sinobo Guoan last month.

Maloney, also in talks with Aberdeen over a playing return to the Premiership, is understood to be interested in a move into coaching at the club where he began his career.

The Scotland international won four Scottish league titles, four Scottish Cups, three League Cups and a PFA Scotland Player of the Year award during two spells as a Celtic player between 1999 and 2011.

A free agent after turning down the offer of a one-year extension with Hull City, the 34-year-old has held talks with Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes over a move to Pittodrie and was expected to pen a two-year deal before flagging up an injury problem himself.

McInnes recently confirmed that ‘further investigation’ is needed into Maloney’ s generic problem before the two sides could commit to a deal, but has yet to formally concede defeat following regular dialogue between the two sides.

The Dons boss said: ‘There’s still a willingness from both parties, Shaun and ourselves, to get a deal done, but Shaun flagged up a wee concern when we met up.

‘It’s very unusual for a footballer to be as honest, open and transparent, but he wants to be our best player, he doesn’t want to be a burden.’

Hope he joins the sheep, that would be a fantastic signing for them.

One of a few positions as under 20 coach. Not the manager.

Looks like he is being open and honest with Aberdeen, which is good. Hopefully he gets another year or two of playing if he wants it. But keeping his options open and I would happily have him here teaching the youth. Get some decent free kick takers back in the team

Wouldn't wish any harm on him but the fact he signed a pre-contract with Villa after years of Celtic sticking by him through his injuries still annoys me.

Surely someone with genuine coaching experience would be better?

Never forgave him for doing the dirty on us with villa. Has no place at Celtic imo.

He had some stretches where he was absolutely fantastic for us early on in this spell, under WGS. But there were also a lot of injuries which not just disrupted, but pretty much ruined this spell.

Though it is always going to be the first spell he was with us is the one wil be best remembered for. Imagine being able to develop as a forward able to watch and study Henrik, BBJ, Sutton et al every day? And will always remember this:
