Shaktyor Karaganda.

On SSB last night Mark Guidi was saying this team were very technical and had spent millions on their squad ?

Does anyone on here know if this is the case ?

FC Shakhtyor (Kazakh: Шахтёр Футбол Клубы) are a Kazakh football club based in the Shakhtyor Stadium in Karagandy. They have been members of the Kazakhstan Premier League since its foundation in 1992.
After reaching third place in 1995 and 2007 their first championship was won in 2011.[1] Before this they were one of the leading Kazakh teams in the football of the Soviet Union.
On 19 September 2008, FC Shakhtyor and FC Vostok were disqualified from the Kazakhstan Premier League for playing a fixed match, club coaches and management involved were banned from football for 60 months.[2] On 2 October 2008, the FFK revisited their decisions. FC Shakhter were deducted nine points, FC Vostok were immediately expelled from the competition. In 2013 they drew Glasgow Celtic in the final qualifier for the champions league but celtic should qualify as shakhters key player Borat is in the states searching for pamela anderson

According to wikipedia Shaktyor Karaganda have Artur Boruc in the team...

 

Via wiki it says they lost 2-1 to ST Patrick's Athletic in Europa qualification 2 years ago.

However, it also says Sasa Papac and Boruc are in their team, so am not reading too much in to this!

Long travel but but it is not the longest travel distance ever for a european match. Look up FC SKA-Energiya Khabarovsk.

 

this is the team we got drawn against, right? I got a glimpse on sky sports. They any good? I thought I read a Celtic blog the other day saying that's the team we wouldn't want to draw out of the bunch. * me !! We never get an easy draw.

Look at their previous results in Europe and that should tell you what you need to know.

This year they beat BATE 1-0 both home and away, followed by a 3-0 win at home and a 3-2 defeat away to Skenderbeu Korce (never heard of them).

Last season they were put out in the first qualifier by Slovan Liberec drawing 1-1 at home and losing 1-0 away.

Season before that they beat Koper in the Europa Qualifiers 2-1 at home and drew 1-1 away, and then were put out by St Patricks Athletic winning 2-1 at home and losing 2-0 away.

They results are a decent indicator, theyve not really been anyone of notable quality in Europe. We should be beating them.

A * of a distance to travel , hopefully we can get past them into the main event thou. Disgrace that we need to play 6 games to get that distance in the first place

 

Probably not the easiest draw but with the right investment in the team we should be a ble to get through.
