CELTIC have today been linked with Nigerian midfielder Seyi George Olofinjana, who is being allowed to leave Wolves after the Midlands club failed to win promotion to the Premiership.

Not really bursting me with excitement. Begs one question... If he can't hack it at a team in the Championship- who didnt even make the play offs- how is he planning on playing in the CL????

From what ive seen of him he is average and hot and cold, the only logic i would see in this signing is if it was helping tommy move to them.

and as for those saying 'lets stick with Hartley'. i am a huge fan of the man, but he will get injured this season and his legs will start to go. we need a back up any way for him as i don't like the thought of Donati or Sno or Grav filling in as our centre mid at the time being.

 

The fact he is being allowed to leave would indicate he is a dispensable player. If in the case he was a 'cracking player' would Wolves not want to keep him in order to push further for promotion??? Teams don't tend to sell players who they would deem to be good enough, unless a substancial fee is proposed?

I've saw that he has been linked with Blackburn recently however.

I just dont see logic in this transfer at all, they may need to get this guy off the wage bill to fund tommy's wages and we have been that desperate to get rid of gravesen we have said "well he is a decent player we will take him" a long shot i know i just cant get my head around this one

 

I think that is bullshit and unfare, but it seems starchan is thinking along the same lines so you might be right.

 

it's not bullshit, the probablity of players not getting injured over a period of 8 months of continuous football is very slim. he was getting little niggles all last year. i love the guy and think he is a key element in our team, by all means i think he should be one of the first names in the starting XI next season after his performances last season.

its not unfair buying a player to compete for his place and provide cover. long term it would even benefit the incoming defensive mid as he would have to watch and learn from Hartley's game. but Hartley won't last for ever. two seasons time we will see him being faded out of the XI.

its being prepared for the inevatible, insted of being left with a hole when he does go. its why i like WGS and Lawwell, they're always looking at both short term and long term of the squad.

Don't think there would be a massive hole tbh, Robson and Brown would remain should he get injured. WGS just has a fetish for CM's...

All played this position in a 3 year term, now we are linked to various other CM's such is the lad from Wolves, The Pole, The Croat.... etc etc. Some stability is needed instead of ripping the team apart year after year. WGS always talks bout Teams 1,2 and now 3. All the good teams around europe have had stablilty, MON had the same backbone in his 5 years...
