Aye and I believe Lawell did not attempt to renegotiate because of his behaviour previously under Deila. Which is fair enough but we could feckin do wi him now.

I think ‘the behaviour’ under Deila’s a myth tbh. Part of that was Broony was apparently not trying so he could get him the sack :56:

Griffiths regularly puts in very good corners, unfortunately our ability to actually head it into the net is * *.

Aye I believe it was Broony, Chuck and Commons were the instigators.

He’d already left at that point, he was allowed to use the training facilities later on that season.

    Updated, this calander year (2018):

    24 League games.
160 corner kicks Celtic have won.
94 corner kicks won at Celtic Park. 1 goal scored.
66 corner kicks won away. 0 goals scored.

I know we are still on a high after the St J game yesterday, and deservedly so. All well and great when we are scoring 6 from open play, but we continue to miss a pretty big trick here. Again yesterday there were another 12 corners that Celtic won, and not once did we really come close from those situations. If we don't score from open play, we make life very tough for ourselves, as it seems a missed opportunity are we passing up here.

Set pieces can be practiced on the training pitch. The question continues to be, are they? In games in Europe, like we saw last week, if it happens and we don't get much of the ball it makes it all the more important to make sure we make the most of the opportunities when we get to the attacking end of the pitch. So if we don't score from open play, we try to make the most of these chances.

    Wow.. what awful stats..

We need a set piece coach and maybe he can teach KT how to take a quick throw-in too..(it will annoy you now I've mentioned it, if not already :56: )

See if we were to have someone stand in front of the first man every time....seems so simple but I rarely see teams do it more than once a game. Should be a constant when your corner takers are erratic imo

There was a point yesterday we were pressing at high tempo and if we kept going would have probably scored, but Tierney let the ball go out off a deflection.
He could have kept the ball in and kept attacking, bit naw he let it go out and took about 15 seconds to throw the ball letting St J regroup.

    Still rotten.

Really does give the impression that zero work on set pieces is done at Lennoxtown. The vast majority of our corners either hit the first man or are ballooned to the other side of the box to nobody.

Throw ins are a riddy as well. Tierney takes about 30 seconds to throw the ball, and Lustig foul throws almost every time but somehow gets away with it.

It's frustrating. Set pieces can be absolutely crucial in tight games, but we just never really look like threatening from them.

It's definitely an issue, defensively and our own set pieces.

Practically every goal we have conceded in Europe this season and last has come from a set piece or a cross (if you don't believe me look back .. it's actually frightening).

We can#t seem to decide who takes our set pieces (there's even a debate at some penalties) and you are just waiting for every corner we take to hit the first defender at the near post or disappear out the other side.

Abysmal for an attacking side like us..

We don't even have any midfielders who can take any. It's chronic :56:

Izzy was taking them recently. A * left back right over the right wing..

A guy who practically hit row z with most of his crosses taking our set pieces and has zero pace to get back. Sums it up..

shocking, was talking about this at work the day, when we get corners no great expectations anything will come out of them. canny remember the last time a ball was whipped in from a corner and someone headed it in.

Griff's deliveries are generally decent but there's the problem.
He is a striker. He should be in the box receiving those deliveries not sending them in.
BR should be making sure every single player practices set pieces properly so that our strikers are where they should be, in and around the penalty box.

    1 goal every 170 corners....

    Disgraceful indictment of our training.
