We try to put balls into an area now as well, but the placement of players is off, and we telegraph the danger area way in advance with a big * of players waiting for the ball.
Not to mention that McGregor and Ntcham can't deliver a proper corner in most cases. They are considered technically gifted, but their corners are simply *.

When you watch back games from the MoN era you can't help but compare it to now. We could physically dominate most teams back then...and they knew it.

Aye, even the likes of Jackie, Petrov and Thommo would physically dominate players and they were some of the smallest in that squad.

The only ones who didn’t was probably Lubo, Agathe and Henke. Who didn’t really need to.

Think that was his point to be fair. It's really that simple.

All these modern coaching methods of 3/4 players hugging onto each other, zonal marking etc. It's not rocket science man; get the ball in and get players that can put themselves in were it hurts. No more shitebaggery.

I remember Lubo battering into *, mad Agathe was * bigger than I thought- must have been about 6, 6'1 and did enough damage and mad Henrik was always good at the wee shoulder barge now and again ;)

Henrik could leap like a salmon though, even 6'4 CBs were up against it trying to beat him in the air.

    Agathe was always back covering.

...and * was swinging in 10/10 corners with either foot.

    Nostalgia :54:

    That was my point mate.

I am sick of * zonal marking anaw, thanks for reminding me. I know I'm no a professional player nor coach, but when I was a laddie capable of kicking a baw we were always told "the grass isnae gonna * score against ye, so DON'T * MARK IT!"

Aye they had dig no doubt but they wouldn’t ragdoll *, Agathe always knew he was quicker than anybody and they knew it too and it scared them, Henrik was just unreal levels of clever and Lubo... Well he was a genius.

@Taz its a very good point. I said last season McGregor was becoming ineffective because we didn’t seem to be playing ball around the opponents box. Which we had done previously. Wee Jamesy seems to be going more direct or to the byline. It is seriously noticeable the amount of free kicks we are missing out on the 20/25 yard area. Lenny built good sides on set pieces. We have the players in Ntcham, McGregor, Forrest and Griff are all capable of playing the game on the ground and also to draw free kicks.

I feel like we've been terrible at Set Pieces for years though. Since before Deila. Maybe even since Naka, Jan and big Mick

Again, I loved Martin O’Neill’s hybrid version. Man for Man except for Bobo * Balde. He had his area, anywhere between the goalposts was to be his ball. 9 times out of 10 it was. The rest could pick up a man.

We got through to the last 16 by being excellent at set pieces.

We are too predictable at corners, just like the way play currently, and teams can snuff it out. They are happy to concede corners against us as there's no one to hit and a very small chance it will result in a goal. So why haven't we mixed it up?? Remember mulgrews goal v them. In fact, he scored a few from daisy cutters to the edge of the 6yrd box after a clever routine. So why the * are we not at least trying that, coz whipping it in is doing * all. Once or twice a game with all the * corners we get. It certainly cannot get worse. Would at least make the opposition think. But I fear this is just the way things are going this year. We are too predictable, pedestrian and easy out thought.

I would rip any * both arms off to have Mulgrew back. That was another Lawell decision. Rodgers hadn’t been in the job 2 minutes and Chuck was gone.

I'd hope no professional would do that in all honesty. I mean, the stories of Beckham, for example, spending hours of extra time after sessions just to practice free kicks etc, should encourage any aspiring player that wants to make it to do the top, not just putting in the bare minimum. Hopefully there isnt that sort of culture at Lennoxtown where this type of thing is discouraged.

Aye apparently Naka was the same. I know Mulgrew could be a * but I thought he was disposed because he was stirring * in dressing room under RD.
