My old man played for Blantyre Celtic, and my Uncle played for and managed Pollok, as well as a few other junior sides.

When i lived there i used to work in the pie stall. I remember Celtic playing in a friendly against Cumbernauld United. Think the result was Celtic winning 5-2.
Most memorable part of the match was when Celtic were on attack one of the Celtic players sliced a shot and it went wide past the post. Problem was that there was a barrier there and the ball hit off the back of the head of a 4 year old and lifted him clear off his feet and propelled him head first into the barrier.
He was screaming the place down.

Just found details of my cousin who played for Cumbernauld United.
He went on to play for Clyde and East Stirlingshire plus he was in same team as Paul Hartley ex of Celtic in the Under 21 Scotland squad against Austria.

When was that? I have a vague memory of going to watch Cumbernauld United play a Celtic select. I think United won 2-1 but my memory is sketchy. Some time in the 80's.

Went to the Port Glasgow v Auchinleck Talbot Scottish cup game on Saturday. Driving down to the roundabout l could see a big crowd in but the teams weren't on the park yet. Got parked and going into the ground when the roar went up, got in to find it was in fact the SECOND goal. Auchinleck had scored in the first and second minute. Seven minutes in and l took my eye off the park for a split second to look at something and the * scored again, three goals and l hadn't seen any of them. Ended up 4-0, managed to see the fourth one.

Auchinleck Talbot v Ayr Utd could get a bit tasty, it’s on BBC 1 Scotland at 12:15.
