Not at CB anyway, and as much as I like Brown he isn’t at Mascherano’s level to drop into defence. And Mascherano played in Barca’s midfield plenty of times.

Love him but no way he should be a starter for us now. Team plays far too slow and far too deep when he plays.

McGregor should be played in that position and the team built around him.

Feel the same way. Love him and love what he's done in his time at the club, but it's time for him to step back.

He can still be useful as a sub in tight games.

It's telling when McGregor was dropping back to link play today as Brown was too slow, he will 90% of the time drop in and pass it to one of the CB.

Most of us have been saying it for months now, he's sitting far too deep and is basically a 3rd CB rather than a midfielder.
He then distorts the midfield shape and we don't actually control the game. Tonight we played a Motherwell team that actually didn't play completely with ten behind the ball, so we really needed to control that midfield more and press our tempo on to the game.

McGregor, ntcham and Christie as a midfield trio for me going forward. Rogic can then rotate in as well.

Was like a player short. Standing at the back side way passing to CBs does nothing.

Love him too. Absolute legend of a man but there’s no shame in being on the bench for a while. Really hope Brendan sees this.

Still has a massive role in the squad

Didn't think he was bad at all..

Was driving forward. Winning the ball back. Even a nice wee back heel that sent half the Motherwell midfield to Wishaw that we went on a good move from..

I don't like him dropping back he does play too deep, but I defo think he has a negative effect on McGregor, he was dropping far too deep too meaning we have 4 centre half's basically.

Thought he came on and did really well on Sunday and is certainly not finished.

He still has a role to play but we've been great without him and he needs to earn his starting spot back the same as everyone else, didn't mind him coming back in tonight but i'd go back to the side we've been playing recently on saturday.

Time for him to be on the bench now with Christie doing so well.

It reminds me of Lambert towards the end still needed that captain figure around but was not starting every game anymore. He should be stepping back now and moulding someone else to take his place like KT.

In tight European games when we’re playing teams better than ourselves he’s definitely useful. Against bottom half spfl teams he makes us far less threatening when we attack. Same team that started against Aberdeen bar any injuries should have played tonight.

I thought he played well last night. Certainly dont think hes fully fit or at his best but ive an inkling theres a wee bit of scapegoating happening here.

I have to agree with br when he talked about individualism. Too many players last night seemed to be out of ideas and instead of sticking to the game plan decided to look for a way out rather than take a risk. That way out usually goes through broony.... hence the conclusion that hes to blame.

But (and i only caught the second half) what i saw was him pressing well and looking to spray passes out the wings.... which 3 passes later were either coming straight back to him or he had to defend.

Should only play off the bench now.
He was off the pace of the game last night.

McGregor has shown how a modern holding midfielder should play.

We’re more dynamic without him, in our press and in our passing tempo.. and we’ve not missed him in Europe, which would have been unthinkable previously..

However, he is coming back from injury and he has been written off before and proved a lot wrong. It just feels like the beginning of the end..
