Hugely physical game. The French Pack is like a brick wall right now!

Probably the strongest Forwards Scotland will face in this 6N. Such a shame that Nel and Dickinson weren't available for selection as they are 2 of the best Props on the planet and they might have made the scrum a real contest.

To have had a chance, Scotland needed to have had all their best players on the park at the same time. Sadly injuries robbed us as they went down one-by-one (Laidlaw being the most telling).

Price needs a slap - stupid STUPID rush of blood to his head that led to the penalty reverse! can't give away 3 points that cheaply at this level.

Bit of a * surrounding Russells conversion attempt. I guess we'll hear what went wrong in time. * happens though, but it seems that this * affected his game for the next 10 mins.

Couple of gripes with the Ref... allowed too many players to lurk offside, and ignored the French Scrum Half contunually feeding the ball directly to the Back Row in the scrum.

Thought Strauss was outstanding. He faced up to the French Forwards as a lone Scottish wrecking-ball.

Congrats to France - deserved win.

Looks like it's going to be a tight competition.

One thing I don't agree with, points for losing.

Utterly bizarre concept to me personally.

I agree with you, but has to be further qualified... points for losing within a set margin.

I can see the logic behind it but it goes against all ethos of competition at its most basic.

Bonus points when winning I agree with, for not losing by much is weird.

That was ridiculously harsh giving them a penalty for a push when it was ours..

Is that normal? Can't remember seeing that kinda punishment for something trivial..

The whistle had gone. We'd been given the penalty. His push was ALWAYS going to result in a penalty reversal. Nothing ridiculous about it - Rugby has always been like that. Don't * with the Refs, mouth-off, or take the law into your own hands as it will always cost you... and your team... and your colleagues will be more *-off with you than the Ref!

But there's always been a bit of argy bargy and it's a rough contact sport. I know it was a bit overzealous and I'm no overly arguing, just curious if it's a common thing. Just seemed quite harsh..

I know you can't argue about or back chat the ref..

That's one of Rugby's quirks. It accepts that tempers will fray and that the * will hit the fan from time-to-time. Such is the nature of the sport. It has to be sensible in that regard.

But in this case, the moment was calm, the decision had been made... and the shove was petulant.

You might get a warning for brawling after a spirited passage of play. But you won't get away with obvious petulance. Ever!

Of the limited amount of rugby I've seen, I've seen that decision not being given before.

    Entirely dependent on the officials.

You're unlikely to get a penalty for it if it's a random off-the-ball shove after a passage of play... but you'll more than likely see a penalty reversal if the shove comes after a decision has been made by the ref.

63 test South African-born Wallaby Dan Vickerman has died aged 37.

Reports from Sydney of 'no suspicious circumstances' which is code for suicide.

A bit of a coup for Embra, hired Richard Cockerill on a 2 year contract. There's a coach who knows how to win.

Yep, weird that as he seemed to be doing really well; degree from Cambridge, in a well-paying job in property, wife and kids. Goes to show how anyone can have issues regardless of how well their life seems to be going on the surface.
