    Brentford star Romaine Sawyers is
a £2.5million target
for Celtic.

The midfielder’s on boss Neil Lennon’s radar after the collapse of
David Turnbull’stransfer
from Motherwell.

    8px;">
    And as the Bhoys eye
a swoop for Sawyers, Ecuador wonderkid Jose Cifuentes says he’s ready to decide on a potential move to Parkhead.

The champions are hunting various positions as boss Lennon continues his rebuilding job.

A right-back remains a priority but with the £3m move to capture Turnbull having collapsed on medical grounds, the Hoops are still looking to bolster their midfield.

Record Sport understands highly-rated Sawyers is under consideration with the club having first scouted the
St Kitts and Nevis star back in 2015 when he was producing outstanding performances for Wallsall.

Sawyers subsequently moved to the Bees but his stock has continued to rise through three years at Griffin Park and he is now approaching his peak at the age of 27.

The midfielder’s in the final year of his contract and, while he’s also attracting interest from Stoke, he’s still available at an affordable price after Aston Villa’s promotion to the Premier League ended their potential interest.

With Celtic facing incoming bids for midfielders Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic, the
engine room could be set for reshuffle.

Turnbull’s nightmare ended that particular plan, while a move for West Brom kid Rekeem Harper may also be in jeopardy.

The 19-year-old travelled to Parkhead last season for talks and is the subject of a £235,000 cross-border interest. But with Slaven Bilic since taking charge at the Hawthorns and having a heart-to-heart with the highly-rated midfielder, sources in the Midlands believe he could sign a new deal with the Baggies.

2.5m seems a more than reasonable fee.

    2.5 is a good price..

27, midfielder, do we really need?

Luca connell comes in, along with the other abundance of central midfielders

Didnt score a goal in 42 championship games last season. Doesn't seem to be the same type of player to Turnbull?

If his stock was rising he'd certainly wouldn't have meant a rise of £250k.

    No for me.

Nothing positive jumping out at me on this one... feels like a slip back to our previous strategy

Yes we have an abundance of CMs but when you break it down it doesn’t make for the best reading:

Ntcham - likely to be off if you see his latest interview with French TV

Bitton - not convinced he’s good enough

Eboue - I believe there is a player in there but coming off a long term injury and wouldn’t rely on him

    Rogic - consistently injured

    Mulumbu - released

    Connell & Henderson - prospects

Only leaves us with Brown, McGregor and Christie who I feel confident with. Need more quality options who can consistently deliver.

Know, absolutely nothing about this *.

Anyone know what type of centre mid he is? If it’s a holding one and he has a good engine the. Maybe it’s worth a punt we do need cover for the holding area.

I would rather we signed the young lad from Ecuador to be fair.

I do know he likes to have the freedom to get forward and he is also the Brentford captain.

I think it'd be great to get Sawyers and Smith in. Two club captains.

Ball carrying midfielder, with a decent range of passing. Not exactly a parameter for quality, but Brentford fans seem to rate him as one of their best ever players..
