Maybe we are overplaying his mad toe issue? Maybe a previous target we didn't think we'd get is now available and we have pulled the plug on Rivaldo. Would have thought we'd have know his medical history before running him through an actual medical. Maybe I'm just clutching at straws

Something fishy about this one for me. Think we've got cold feet for one reason or another and have maybe called off for something we might have overlooked in a player we REALLY wanted.

Bit mad this has all come about!

We should have gone out and signed Jerry St Just before he went to Feyenoord and we would have had the next VVD.

He failed his medical, why do we need a conspiracy theory? Better to be safe..

This whole debacle sums up our recruitment this season. A shambles. We need 3 players in quickly for Europe. Roberts, a centre half and another striker. No more midfielders please

Conspiracy theory is going a bit ott is it not! Don't doubt there was an issue in his medical but get the impression we have maybe been extra extra cautious on this one because he was far from our first pick.

only reason we know about this is his club made it public before anything was finalised. celtic havent mentioned anything at all on this, and it would have been filed as just another rumour hadnt the African press waded out with articles.

Rodgers openly stated he expected him in and to join up with the squad after the international break.

Where did you hear that? I'd be happy with that because I think he looks a good player.

I think he'll still end up here, either in January or maybe even next summer.

Definitely a weird one though, it's not like we were paying a big fee or anything and at his age he has great potential. It was a win-win signing for us, so I don't think anyone should be looking too much into it.

Some people seem to be seeing black helicopters where there are none.

Would sign him to replace Erik in Jan if he somehow recovers.

"Ajax Cape Town will try and help defender Rivaldo Coetzee win his dream move overseas in January after the heartbreak of his failed signing for Scottish Premier League giants Glasgow Celtic.

The Urban Warriors had reached an agreement for the sale of Coetzee to Celtic last week, but the player failed a medical with a problem with a bone in his foot, which saw the deal collapse.

The 20-year-old has been left devastated and will now undergo surgery to correct the problem, with an expected absence somewhere in the region of six to eight weeks."
