Very early days to make assumptions but straight out of the gate how have the new lads measured up... so far at least.

Luca Connell: some decent shifts for the development side but obviously not in Lennons plans, for now at least. 6.5/10

Jonathan Afolabi: not seen hide nor hair as of yet. NA/

Christopher Jullien: Decent start to his Celtic career. Powerful in the air and looks to have half decent positional sense. Definitely seems to have a mistake or two in him but hopefully just first day jitters. 7/10

Boli Bolingoli: Two current schools of thought exist on the Belgian. He's either a walking calamity or a player with good potential. For me he looks a player who doesnt ever appear to have been properly coached a day in his life. At Rapid it looks like he was merely given licence to bomb up the left wing and thoroughly neglect anything resembling defensive duties. But I still think there's a fair amount of potential there to exploit if we can get him thinking like a left back and not a kid on the school playground. 5/10

Hatem Abd Elhamed: Easily the standout of the new recruits. Happy to be proved wrong by the guy as he's shown great endeavour in the RB role. Good pace, good defensive instincts and works his socks off. Would definitely still like to see another RB in though as Ajer belongs at the heart of the back line. 7/10

Still too early to give a proper rating for any of them but Elhamed is the one that's properly hit the ground running IMO.

Elhamed made the most immediate impression. Jullien will go on to leave the most lasting impression.

You have Julien at a 6, yet Connell at a 6.5..

Just based on the two performances ive seen.

Admittedly one was for Bolton, the other highlights innthe Glasgow cup.

As i said in the OP... just conjecture.

I actually thought i had Chris at 7... must have hit 6. Will edit now.

Elhamed and Jullien look pretty good, not convinced about Boli as yet.

A week left of the window, haven't been overly impressed with our business so far, don't think we have properly addressed the FB positions, also need to bolster the MF.

Based only on what we've seen so far:

Connell: N/A, not played at all

    Afolabi: N/A, as above

Julien: 6/10, passing can be ropey, needs time to settle and a bit of continuity at the back to get used to guys around him. One thing I've noticed v Dunfermline & Hearts is that he's not attacking every ball that's coming into his area. A guy with his height, strength and aerial ability should not be letting balls bounce in behind the defence.

Mbombo: 5/10. Arrived with high praise from Rapid Vienna, roping passing, positioning and at times too easily beat by his man but there is definitely a player in there (albeit it looks like an attacking one) Has played a hand in a few goals with driving runs to the byeline. Was always going to be up against it after taking over from our best LB for decades, if we had another LB to play that took him out the firing line for a bit it might be for the best.

Elhamed: 9/10. Solid, pacey, good feet and composure. Can get up and down the park as we need from our full backs. Could sharpen up aerially and close his man down quicker to stop the cross but that's me being hypercritical, he's started brilliantly.

Afolabi and connell not for this side of Xmas n/a

Jullien 6. Shakey start. Technically good and I think he can be a serious player for us and be producing ajer type performances from the back soon. He would have been a 5 this time last week

Boli: 4.5..;from the very first 20 mins in Sarajevo I was very conscious of his positioning. He has a great engine. I still think a player can be made. Taylor would compliment him I think and we could go horses for courses. I wouldn't give up on him

Elhamed: 7.5 looked good when other acquisitions were struggling. Settled well. Seems solid at rb. My only concern is he may be injury prone

Boli and jullien attitude and desire have really impressed me . Seem like good lads when stuff wasn't necessarily going their way . Jullien attitude seems world apart from boyata
