The first point is an individual perspective , for me yes it has as i was brought up watching the likes of Mikkola, Kankkunnen , Sainz, Vatanen, Rohl,Salonen ect ect add to that the cars were more exciting ..Mk2s , Opel Asconas (we are restoring an ex Jimmy McRae Rothmans Ascona at the moment) Mantas ect it was a spectacle ..

Privateers are just as you describe them , they can afford the fees and to run the car hoping they may be picked up by some team at a future stage

Its sad that its not as big now in the U.K imo. but there's some good names there in Jimmy McRae, Carlos Sainz (although, he wasn't the best sport) and Kankunnen he went on for a long, long time and i remember watching him on the box but mostly people i remember are the McRae's, Gronholm, Richard Burns, Makkinen, Solberg, (though i heard Blomqvist was a bit of a legend too). They were some of the bigger names. A different ear to the ones you mentioned. They're may have been more skill involved in the past though so achievements shouldnt be taken lightly imo.

Honestly don't know what happened to him, will soon find out. Maccrone is flying man. Took 24s of Duffy on the first stage of tonight (ss14). Looks to be Duffys though, Just has to keep on the road and should be fine.

Seemed a great event again !! .....young MacCrone done really well ..that boy has a future ..Remember him a few years ago peddling the bear Cubs red corsa round with Zac hancock navigating he was quick then ..think he is only 22 ...Some future for the lad at a much higher level i think ..

Cheers lewis i saw that Ogg had rolled friday night but saw his name down for the start of leg 2 under super rally tools ......the sun will probably come out now its finished :icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen:

Hope Bardy gets the car sorted so he can defend the North West Stages in Blackpool early Feb :50:
