Discuss R. I. P Billy McKee in the TalkCeltic Pub area at TalkCeltic.net.
Died today at his home.
I was never comfortable with the religious aspect that he tried to imbue republicanism with. A good old age though.
RIP Oglach Billy McKee
I saw him as more of a Catholic nationalist than a republican in the mold of Connolly or Sands.
Probably very Pearsean in his views.
Same as that. I think we would have only had one thing in common...
An unrepentant * until the very end.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
A good old fashioned Brits Out republican.
True republican that gave alot to the cause! Agreed with his comments a few years ago about the Ra decommissioning and betraying the people for giving up them arms. Loved him saying “I regret nothing,” a man who sticks to his princables right to the end!
I could be wrong but wasn't it Billy McKee the one who mentioned Martin McGuiness was a tout and set him up to get him offside so they could gain control.
I think that was Brian Keenan Leeso.
Although it seems that story only seems to have been made public via O'Callaghan.
No, definitely don't think it was him. I could be wrong though. Was it not one of the older volunteers that ran things before Adams and McGuiness took over. I can only go by what I've read and Keenan was to young then to be one of the ones in control.
