The club supports the charity and there's nothing wrong about that. It's not the club that have attracted the negative attention here. In regards to the poppy being on the top, I believe that each player should be given the choice to decide if they want a poppy on their top.

'No bloodstained poppies on our hoops'.

The use of the word 'our' is inclusive of the entire support. And it's obvious that the entire support will be tarred with the same brush.

Every single person in that corner shares those views then?

You're correct about the media taking any opportunity to put us down, but that doesn't mean we should condone the GB's actions as all it does is give them more ammo.

Some supporters are clearly not afraid to voice their opinions at the match regardless of what the media say. And I'm sure the supporters would still have an opinion on the poppy whether or not Celtic put it on the top. It comes down to you either support the poppy appeal or you don't. As far as I know Celtic will continue to support the poppy appeal in future years so it's something the fans will have to get used to.

They are raising money for people who have been injured or wounded.

The way you posted,it seemed you were saying, the money was raised only for injured.

You dont have to be injured to get money.
You just have to be ex service.

So you could have a business that goes bust and they may help you out.

    Thats all.

So it's like raising money for people within (I use the term loosely) an extended family.

    Seems to be.

Anyways,as i said earlier,i mean it this time,im done with this thread.

    :50:

I object to the Celtic Football Club raising money for or giving support to this "Charity".

Hopefully this is the last year of it.

I didn't say the were speaking for the entire support, but to outsiders that's certainly how it looks. 'Our hoops' is 'their hoops' is 'our hoops'. That's why it appears that way.

one problem is that there is some sort of misconception that the Green Brigade are just a 'bunch of young, uneducated neds' - total myth.

The second part in bold is the very reason I believe the negative attention is due to the club. They have made the wrong choice again and the banners, protests or whatever, wouldn't have even been at Celtic Park if they hadn't.

I'm not even sure that the players need to option to have it on the top. If they request it, then we should grant their wish but I don't think we need to be putting the choice down to them.

Everyone can choose to wear the poppy, everyone can choose not to, that's the way it should be. The fact the club has forced the poppy upon the shirt again, I believe they've only themselves to blame for the attention being shifted off the SFA.

I just don't think there's a place for anything like this at all at the football, not just the poppy.

There's a way to express an opinion and them banners were DEFINITELY NOT the answer. People will listen to 'why' they did it but will soon stop listening if they continue to embarrass themselves and most importantly, the Club

just like the banner on the players chest on sunday.
Gb banner was reactionary - for every action theres a reaction no matter how counter productive it is. they got the message across and some.
Now the club got their message across by carrying on with there banner. It may not be with words but to some its like a big finger in there face.
I dont think this will be the last of this. The board will make some new polices now in the guise of something else.
