Why do people on here get so excited by the thought of some 6'5+ striker anytime one is linked? Yes, he was able to win a few headers when he came on in the world cup but he's technically * with the ball at his feet and has next to no pace. I hate those rumours as I want to see us playing a good short passing game. This will be a non starter as deila wants to play that style too.

I dont think anyones actually shooting their load here just yet about a 6"6 striker Josh.!!
Its just in some fans opinions he is an option we dont have at present and options are always needed if we dont want to be one dimentional.

Thumb, Stokes, Pukki, Commons, etc are all relatively small and not real options as target men for our wingers hitting the bi line etc.
Balde clearly isnt cutting it and to be fair to big Sammi when he was here, ive seen a corpse jump higher when it farted !!(As good as he was)

RD will need to realise that he will sometimes (especially in europe) have to change his game plan and maybe some height and muscle (et al Sutton, Hartson type) is currently missing from his ranks.

Anyway only rumour at the moment. :celt_2:

Good enough for a bunker-buster. Could do wonders with Boerrigter crossing to him. RD saw reason during his time at Stromsgodset, and deviated from his offensive lineup by signing a big lump of wood called Peter Kovacs. This brought him success in cases of sturdy defenses. I'd say KSW is better than Kovacs.

Kim Shin Wook sounds promising but it's probably a non starter. Anyone who we're linked that I like the sound of never happens

He's the exact kind of striker needed in Deila's formation and style, the quick passing game, getting down the wings and firing balls in to the box. Also gives you a plan b if the other team are frustrating you and supressing your passing game.

the football world has moved on from the days we had Sutton and hartson. Most teams had a target man then, now most don't as you need more technical players. Even your striker

I don't think deila plays with the end product being throw crosses into the box. I think he wants 1 technical striker who can pass the ball well with midfield runners and the wingers as more inside forwards in between the lines

Pass on the big Korean. We need someone who is at least used to some sort of European league, not a 26 year old who is completely untested outside of Asia.

If he was available for no more than £1m then aye but I doubt he is.

Yes, but that doesn't take into account packed defenses or weather that prevents passing on the deck.

Dont quite get that mate.. Why is he making a big deal about having wingers and needing wingers in his playing philosophy if he isnt going to hit the bi-line and cross the ball.??

I agree the Hartson , Sutton type are more of a rarity these days and that players get more techically trained and gifted as years go on but if we dont have one of these players, surely that means we limit our options?
Thats why we got humped last week because we couldnt change or adapt a way to get through their defence....

We will agree to disagree on that one !!

Oh and all 10 players (Forster excluded ) were * rank too !!:celt_2:

Is he not full of bullshit?

Surely we could afford the £3.5m or £4m without being in the champions league ffs? Especially as we haven't spent a penny so far.

He likes wingers who cut inside and score goals, examples of this are ronaldo, neymar, Alexis Sanchez, schurrle etc. (These are not players I think we should look at lol just examples of the position). You rarely see these players go all the way to the bye line and cross the ball, they are more inclined to come inside and play off the striker and score a lot themselves.

This doesn't limit us we just need better quality

No one in champions league group stages plays like that against us because the play the right way, a way that deila wants to impose but he needs backing. we are the ones doing that in the group stages
