Never seen Maradona or Pele play so it's really difficult to make the comparison. The only stage where Messi is behind the other 3 is the international stage and CR7 is only just ahead on that stage because of the euros, as Messi hasn't won the Copa America either.

In club level, they've all won everything wherever they have been and they all consistently performed to unseen levels for their time.

I don't know how good the Napoli side where when Maradona was there but they won serie a for the first time ever when he was there. Also not sure how good the Argentina 86 squad was either but having a look at the squad not many played in Europe and I'd be surprised if it had more quality than the current side that Messi plays with, but I wouldn't honestly know.

Pele won 3 world cups which is unbelievable but I also think the squad of Brazil in that era was phenomenal as well with players like garrincha, jairzinho and rivelino, but still incredible.

CR7 has been incredible for utd and real and has transformed his game incredibly. In my opinion (not a popular one) but he's the best in this current era. Its a shame for him that the Portugal squad lacks more quality.

Messi is unbelievable what he can do with the ball and everything he has done in the game, I just prefer CR7, though it is very close and hard to choose.

My all time favourite though is Ronaldo and if he hadn't suffered injuries and set backs I believe he'd be the number 1 without a doubt. Whenever he was playing I always wanted to be watching, what he could do was phenomenal.

Overall though it's so hard to compare because they are all the top players who did unbelievable things in their era.

I would also have Bergkamp in my top ten, the guy was so elegant on the ball but deadly at the same time.

 

Messi and Ronaldo will probably go down as the best two goal scorers ever.

For sheer genius and best actual ‘player’ Maradona remains unrivalled.

Pelé isn’t remotely near the top 5 let alone these three.

Aye, for me growing up it was Zidane, the Brazilian Ronaldo and Bergkamp who were my favourites. I love players like Zidane and Bergkamp in particular who just make the game look effortless and can almost play at their own pace.
