    Before anyone jumps down my throat, he was a good player. He just isn't one of the best of all time imo. For an attacking playmaker, his goal and assist stats are poor. His overall play was good, But he had many long spells of poor form along with having just one goal from open play, in 15 world cup games. He wasn't even one of France's best players in the 1998 WC until the final.

    Great player, yes. In the top 10 of all time? No.

    No, no, no I'm not having this. You can't base a player like Zidane for his goal/assists stats he was way bigger than that. France had Henry, Trezeguet, etc to score goals and Real Madrid had Ronaldo, Raul, etc. It's the same as criticising Xavi or Iniesta for not scoring enough. He literally won a world cup almost single handedly for France, he won the champions league with Real Madrid with an absolutely unbelievable goal and almost won another world cup for France in 2006 in his mid-30's carrying a poorly managed team. He played at a different pace to everyone else on the pitch, he played a game on his own, he was beyond special and made all those around him play better. He's the definition of a playmaker.
