We aren’t threadbare with defenders.. it’s the quality of defenders that’s the issue..

    Exactly, threadbare on quality CBs!
We all know the limitations of our current CBs, quality over quantity, and out of the 5 main CBs, one is decent, one has great potential, one is injury prone and a bit of a liability, and two are simply not good enough!

Regarding the lighting upgrade, are people so short-sighted with complaining about them, that they don’t realise they’ll save the club a lot of money longer term?

The only man to have delivered back to back trebles in scottish history and an invincible , let that sink in for a minute.

Back him ? give him every penny.

When the actual footballing team is having issues, light fixtures tend to be considered as matters of tertiary importance.

Agree, mate. We could / should have been showing a bit more ambition at this stage. I hate to say this, but I do worry about the resurgence of Rangers, who seem to be turning in to the kind of team we generally struggle against, ie, strong defensively and hitting on the break. Surely now is the time to back the manager, win a treble treble, and progress in Europe. Please, Celtic, dont stop now !

You are aware that any business of Celtic’s size, will look for upgrades, cost cutting measures and solutions, that aren’t necessarily the primary focus of the business, yes?

Spending money on lights is irrelevant with regards to our transfer spending.

The footballing team will forever be having issues and anyway, the lighting project could have been planned and scheduled at a time when the team was viewed to be in a good place, outside a transfer window and Pistol Pete having just sank a bottle of Eden Eden mill Gin whilst watching a re-run of his favourite Daft Punk gig!

The damage was done in january, for years we have had this pish, not addressing problems identified during the season in the winter with a view of those all important qualifiers at the start of the new season. Even if we did get a quality RB and CB in, they need time to settle in and should be done in january.

Not if it means that the transfer budget is reduced because of non-football-related expenditures.

    It’s not..

We are just very cautious in the market, frustratingly so at times..

I don't necessarily think that that's the case. I just think the club/board is awful at identifying quality players over the last couple of years and actually signing them. We all know the money is there.. which is what makes this all the more infuriating.

If the final say on signings is Lawwell's, then basically the transfer budget of the manager is very limited/non-existent. There should be a range where Lawwell simply can't interfere, and has to let the manager point at a player and then do his bidding- arrange the transfer.

That’s the key.. there’s still time..

However Jan was a poor poor window and it’s that window for me that may cost us CL football.. is the board to blame for that? I’d say, no..

£7m - £9m for Edouard would suggest the budget is healthy..

It’s not BRs job to arrange the ins and outs of a transfer either, that’s ludicrous.. however that’s not to say PL should necessarily stay in post if he fails to take us to the next level..and BR walks..

I meant that PL does the arranging, but cannot block a transfer if it's within the agreed budget. We don't know what the budget is, though. I do think Brendan deserves a big budget, considering his past achievements.

To anyone saying there is still time, is there? What if we get knocked out the champions league?

I know there is a few what ifs but we should have had a centre half in by now, we must have been looking at one even before the window was open.

Who is to say we can't do buissness before the window opens and have it all in place? It's been nothing short of a shambles this window bar Eddy.

We need to spend on the defence and stop * about! Our manager has done back to back trebles and gone a whole season unbeaten yet our board won't back our manager when he really needs it.
