Right, I have always had the lyrics “Willie Fernie did a dance, and he gave the Gers no chance, he gave big McPhail the ball, and he stuck it in the ingin pale” (onion bag/net I imagine) in my head for the 7-1 song

I’ve checked Hampden in the Sun lyrics and can’t find this, where do I have this from?! Am I imagining things?

So much ability in that team from the 1950's that really had the ability to have won so much more than they actually did, in no small part due to the interference from Bob Kelly, which pretty much blighted and undermined the entire of McGrory's years as manager. Peacock, Fernie, Tully, McPhail & co all deserved more but thankfully the 7-1 win will ensure their place in Celtic folklore is never forgotten, if for nothng more than that one day in Hampden.
