I've just had a scary thought - what if Burke is gonna be the right winger and Brendan is gonna go mad and try use Forrest as a striker, then give it the ol' "but we tried to sign one"?

    * me.

How you gonna be mate when McKenna is announced next week?

In the context of where we're hoping to be in the long term, mate. Eventually, we should be matching clubs like Porto and Benfica. That has to be our long-term goal. We're getting there slowly. In that context, I think a couple of bad investments of that magnitude would easily set us back a couple of years.

Domestically, we'd absorb them just fine. I agree.

Good to see West Brom have faith in him.

ALBION have agreed a deal which will see forward Oliver Burke spend the rest of the season on loan at SPFL giants Celtic, subject to a medical.

Sporting and Technical Director Luke Dowling explained the Club have allowed the Scotland international to make a temporary switch to Celtic Park in the hope it will help galvanise his career.

Burke joined the Baggies from RB Leipzig in August 2017 but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

“To be fair to Oli, there have been a lot of changes at the Club since his arrival which have not helped him,” said Dowling.

“The opportunity to join a club of Celtic’s stature on loan was felt by everyone to be the best pathway to help develop his career.

“Oli liked what Celtic had to offer and he has obviously got the opportunity to play on a great stage which should be of benefit to him.

“I would stress that there is no ‘option to buy’ clause at the end of the loan and he will be back with us at the end of the season.

"We will be keeping a close eye on his progress and still believe that in Oli we have a talented player who we are anxious to develop and progress.”

I cant understand 6 month loans its pointless . If it was 12 or 18 months i would be happy with this but 6 months means we have to go through it all again in the summer .

Lewis Morgan is 22 and has played over 80 competitive senior games. MJ is 19 and has played around 10-15ish. If you are developing players which would you say needs regular competitive game time more? I have no idea whether one or both of them will go on loan, I'm just trying to work out why we brought in Oliver Burke on a 6 month loan and it being cover so MJ can go and get game time seems the most logical to me. Time will tell.

    This.

Send Johnston out on loan, give Morgan the chance at back-up LM/W to Sinclair, Burke will be there as back up to Forrest on the right.

Really don’t see what the problem is.

    Good young player coming in.

Aye but what if he sticks Forrest out left now instead of Sinclair? :36:

We'll cross, or jump that bridge when it comes to it :fear:

Which maybe says more about Morgan unfortunately..

Johnston is simply more talented and will have a bigger career here..

Morgan still has a chance though but he hasn't really taken anything..

If Burke and Weah are coming in on 6 month loan deals, I’d expect them to be playing most weeks otherwise it doesn’t benefit us or them. Both very quick and direct which is what we need. Guys like Sinclair who have been underperforming for too long now need this type of competition to bring the best out in them.

Option to buy him after the 6 months would have been ideal.

I think most are * off because it’s a short term fix, again.

He might want to stay after the deal ends.

For 6 months then offski, have little problem with it but considering we are going to be getting Weah on loan as well how many loan players are we planning on signing ? West Brom won't sell him for less than 10m, could you really see it happening?
