Discuss Oliver Burke in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
If West Brom go up straight swap Ntcham for Burke!
Get Compper to grow the Burkie chin strap beard and send him down. Just say Ollie got a bit of a Glasgow tan! They'll never know.
Burke has made an excellent start, let’s see if he can make the step-up on Thursday and away v Killie and Hearts..
I’m sure he can but let’s no get too carried away..
seen a wee bit in the paper today he will be named in the next Scotland squad for the 2 games … first thing I thought .. injury .
Think it will do his confidence good being included..
hope so but its another free fortnight for thae bassas … ah well
Is he ok for Thursday?
BR says should be.
I still don't think Burke 's position is striker I don't think he is the best finisher in the world.
That would be my attacking line up
Don't think he's best finisher, but I think he plays the role of unselfish striker, gives enough pressure to allow other players to get into position to score.
Although if we are talking about playing for Scotland we are incredibly dry in the striker area.
I think in a game against stronger opponents he'd be perfect up top on his own. Strong, fast, good in the air. Great for counter attacking.
As Hartson once said, scoring 20+ a season for Celtic is the bare minimum. Even an average striker should manage 15+ a season in the SPFL. Which Eddy can do, I'm sure.
However, it's against teams like Valencia that we will really see the quality of our players. For example, Samaras was a weapon in Europe, but seemingly underwhelming in the league. I think Burke has all the attributes of a counter attacking striker ala Samaras, but with more pace and power. I don't think Eddy can do what Burke can when we aren't in possession.
He'll be a huge asset in Europe. It's just ashame we may only see it a few times.
Weah does look the more natural goalscorer, his runs and finishes have been class but he doesn't seem to have the allround game of a striker either. He was really quiet in that one game he started up front, although so was Burke the game after but Burke has now started like 5 games as the striker and in 4 of them he ran amok. Weah has 2 starts I think one was very quiet and the other was ok although on the right wing, he may be better on the left as to me he looked uncomfortble taking the ball close to the touchline.
OB: I’m really looking forward to the game tomorrow. It’s an amazing stadium and exciting crowd so can’t wait for it.”
OB: “We are in a really good place at the minute. Great form and our morale is high. We go into the game to try and win so fingers crossed.”
OB: “It’ll be my first European game at Celtic Park so I can’t wait to play. I know the #CelticFC fans thrive off these occasions so I’m really excited to experience it.”
OB: “We need to have quality on the ball. We need to take our time, attack at the right times to break down the opposition and create chances.”
OB: “My confidence right now is really high. I’m really happy with where I am with #CelticFC and we go into the game aiming to win.
I don’t think we’ll try and get him on a permanent, we play with one striker and have made a £9m investment in Edouard..
Think we’ll get Weah for another season hopefully and then there’s Griff and Bayo too.
Edouard will be the main striker next season.
Hope this lad has an absolute stormer.....good luck Ollie.
Can't wait to see him tonight. Think he'll be vital.
I've heard that Oli is the one in the Hoopy costume doing the air guitar before the game. That's his warm up.
