There was a guy that sat behind me who just constantly called JVoH ‘a big carthorse’. 30 odd times a game. For a full season.

By the end of the season I could have happilly strangled him.

He played a good amount on the wing aye but I wouldn’t say the majority.

Regardless of where he played I still think he was bang average.

I know what you mean about calling Eddy lazy. FWIW I've been going to see this band since before they were famous.

I think we disagree a little on Sammy. He's a bit like Harry Potter (another weird analogy, I know): somehow most people I talk to either think they're the best books ever or they're terrible. Both views mystify me, because I read them and thought they were "quite good". Sammy's memory is a bit like that IMO.

Eddy on the other hand... barring injury, Eddy's going to be a timeless classic of a novel. Sadly probably not at us. :54:

lol... that is feckin' hilarious. :D

Was it not sammy that was in on goal, turned his back to go and celebrate and the ball hit the left post.
Whereas, if he had made sure and followed up, he would've tapped in the rebound.

Might not have been sammy, but i seem to remember that for some reason.
With sammy though, he could be brilliant one moment or just plain *. You never new what you were getting,
    but always hoping.

Probably not fair of me to pick out sammy, i'm sure others have done it to.

I’d probably say that as well but not in the normal way, because he was every inch a Champions League player and also a player that couldn’t be trusted in the SPL half the time.

You could tell what Sammy you were going to get in the first 5 minutes of a game. He was * weird psychologically. He didn't react like normal players. When Broony got sent off against Barcelona, you'd think someone temperamental like that, his head might drop. Nope, produced IMO his best half hour in a Celtic shirt after that. Sprinting back to slide tackle carrots in the LB position and all sorts. :56:

    Sammy.

Another favourite Sammy memory of mine is him getting absolute pelters for wearing a hat and gloves. :56:

I never claimed that Samaras was anything more than average. I just think that "* *" does him a disservice, particularly given the quality of some of the other players that we have seen at Celtic Park over the years.

    I disagree.

I think they look similar as well. Struggle to tell them apart.

It's the Moussa Dembele conundrum all over again.

The better Odsonne Edouard gets, the bigger reputation the Celtic striker commands.

And as it was for Brendan Rodgers, it'll be hard for Neil Lennon to keep such a talent under wraps for long.

Edouard's electric start to the season has carried a definitive feel, a progression from boy to man as he keeps scoring the big goals in the big games.

A first outing for France U-21s yielded the first two of what will surely be many more at international level.

And if French media weren't keeping tabs on him before, they certainly are now.

Edouard spoke to national publication L'Equipe after his brace in a 4-0 victory over Albania last week.

The newspaper profiled the 21-year-old as the "tormentor of Rangers ", which they recognise as a sure-fire route to the hearts of every Celtic fan on the planet.

His two goals against the Albanians, scored within 13 minutes of each other, ensured Edouard made quite the first impression.

L'Equipe believe that performance has already catapulted Edouard out of the "new face with a point to prove" bracket and into major contention as the team's leading striker.

It's reported he'll be given the nod from the start against the Czech Republic on Monday night in a further opportunity to impress.

The same outlet claimed last month that Monaco had reached an agreement to sign Edouard that later collapsed, but add that he is happy to stay put.

Edouard himself, meanwhile, can't speak highly enough of Celtic.

He said: "It's normal to score, I'm an attacker.

At Celtic, there is a lot of pressure, you have to come to see a match to realise the atmosphere.

"I got used to it and I enjoy it thoroughly."

There is no doubt that Edourad is proving to be well worth the 9m we paid for him. He was very good last season and this season so far even better. He clearly enjoys his football here and I am loving watching him in the hoops just as I did with Dembele. Hopefully if and when the time comes for him to move we get an even bigger fee for him then we got for Dembele and we have a proper replacement signed unlike the last time with Dembele.

£40mil for him is a feckin' steal for any club aspiring to...

Could see him scoring a goal or two in a europa/champions league final.

Can see dembele going for £80m in the summer and Eduard going as his replacement for 30/40.

A 10% sell on fee is a nice and welcome bonus for us. :50:

    Still...
I'd like to see Celtic putting in a larger clause, considering how much these cheapskate premier league bastits
    get our players for.
Even with a 15-20% sell on fee, it's still a win/win and a good level of profit for the club he's leaving.
