i think if oasis stopped 3 years ago, i may have voted for them, but they have went on and on and i think that what they now have over the stone roses is more songs, but not better ones, i love oasis early stuff, but the stone roses blow me away

Stone Roses by a country mile.....

Better poll would be Blur vs Oasis

That's it exactly. Stone Roses were probably more talented, but Oasis have more class tunes.

I reckon Oasis would win unfortunately but the reality is that Blur or Damon in particular is the best and most prolific song writer of both bands.

The man's imagination is just fantastic.

This is a no-brainer for me. Stone Roses easily, there would be no Oasis without the Stone Roses.

Precisely. The Roses were technically and lyrically far, far superior to Oasis.
Could Liam (or Noel for that matter) go on and craft a solo career like Ian Brown's? I think not.

If you think that F.E.A.R. is Ian Brown's best solo effort then you display a complete lack of understanding of his work. It's his most famous song, so using it as an example is a complete cop-out.
Have you even heard 'Corpses In Their Mouths', 'Golden Gaze', 'Northern Lights', 'Gettin High', 'Dolphins Were Monkeys', 'Set My Baby Free' etc.?
In fact, one of Ian Brown's weakest solo efforts was 'Keep What Ya Got', written by none other than Noel Gallagher.
Ian Brown & The Roses weren't afraid to branch out and experiment, and pulled it off rather well. Experimentation is beyond the reach of the Gallaghers and would probably alienate (nay, scare the * out of) most of their fans.

I think the lack of mass production from the Roses corner was down to their record company taking the *.Which to me is a good thing at least they did n,t outstay their welcome unlike Noel n co.Resulting in concentrated class

oasis are the most derrivitive band i've ever come across in my life. truly awful apart from the 1st album and the master plan. the roses changed british indie music. 3 great musicians and an excellent front man. oasis are a bunch of loud mouthed gobshites who talk themselves up so much because no one else does it for them
